Default How fast can I go with a factory LS7 longblock

I have enjoyed my 07 Z06 for the better part of 2 years now with-out one issue. I have literally about 100 passes on the set-up and have a best ET of 9.60 @ 143 so far. I have not changed one thing in the set-up since I built the car. I ran a 9.64 at the Holley LS Fest in BG and a 9.64 at the Shoot-out in ST.Louis also so the car is dead consistant everywhere. However the good air is coming and I am in the process of making a few changes to better the ET . I assure you the drivetrain will hold up, I have the great "Roadrebel" handling the tune up and I think that I can pilot the thing alright. How fast do you think we can go with a boosted stock un opened LS7 (the valve covers and intake has never been removed) before it blows up.

The last run I made on Sunday morning at the LSX Shoot-out I ran my best 1/8 mile at 6.10 @113.8 and should of run it on out but I was beating the other guy bad so I lifted and hit the brakes. I still broke out with a 9.8X @112 I think that would of been my 9.5X I wanted. Time to turn the wick up.

Man so many people are pushing factory motors these days it's really hard to say. So many 700 plus rwh cars it's unreal. I think 9.30's with more boost. Congrats Rodney.

What kind of 60' did you get on that 6.10 run?
What kind of power does it make?
I'm guessing it's a 4L80E?

Keep putting smaller pulleys on it and see what happens

I had a 1.40 on that particular run. The best 60ft so far is 1.361. RWHP two years ago was 689 on a Mustang Dyno. The transmission is a Level 7 4L60E.

I think it has a tenth or possibly two but we will see how things go.

LMK when you go to the track-I may come join you. I'll get you to heat up the track for me.

I'd venture to say you guys will be able to go LOW 9's, and who knows.... with enough boost....

Good luck either way, If I know you, you already have a whole built motor sitting complete on a stand just waiting to go in once you blow up the stock one

(the valve covers and intake has never been removed)
Does this mean you have been beating it for 2 years on stock valve springs?

Yes, The car sees NO street duty and has not been on the dyno since the build. The car only has 3K miles total. If I can just get an 9.50 pass and not blow it up I will feel lucky. I will make changes to the car this winter including a new engine.

Rodney, that is awesome.
You will break 9.50s before you break the engine.

You do realize that since you've been so quick on stock engine, you better build something that runs mid 8s so it feels like money well spent.

I bet the guy that hand-assembled your LS7 in Wixom would be proud.

Made 6 runs today at our local track. The first pass was a 9.52 @143.49 and it was a little warm out. The track was nice in the sun and I had a 1.390 60ft on that pass. I then had a few more 9.5X runs with a best of 9.510 @144.57. I decided to stay into the evening hanging out with some old Turbo Buick friends and it really cooled off. My next run I only had a 1.403 60ft but went 6.07@115.57 in the 1/8 mile and 9.482 @ 144.50 for a new personal best. This is the same set-up I've ran for a while just in good air tonight. Next week we plan to pulley down a size and see how long that will last. I have a nice video of the first pass I will have have Todd post up Monday.
