Default Nitrous Refill Costs?

I just called around to some local supply houses for a bottle refill, and am getting quote of around $6.9-$7.5 lb. Seems a little high, no?

I'm located in Northborough,MA. What are the rest of you paying for bottle refills?

I haven't filled a bottle in a couple years, but last time I filled one was around $5/lb.

$4.50-$6.00. I am dropping a bottle off tomorrow to get it filled for the Texas Mile next week. May need to buy a large bottle and do my own refilling.

That's what I was thinking....Buying in bulk should put the price per lb, closer to $3, perhaps a little less.

I'm going to check with some gas suppliers about the process and associated costs.

On another note I thought I read that you could get away with not needing a pump if you freeze the empty bottle, then the pressure/temp delta between bottles will cause the liquid nitrous to fill the empty bottle?

Or should I just man up and buy a pump/scale kit, and then perhaps resell some of my nitrous for a little profit to offset the costs...

i could be wrong, but im pretty sure a nitrous fill station costs more than a grand to get going. not to mention if you can get it somewhere in bulk

You can do the freeze method. I transfered between 2 10lb. bottles last night. I could only get it to transfer 8 lbs. So I will be wasting 2lbs of Nitrous to add the Nano check valve. The larger tanks are under more pressure so that should transfer a little better.

Wow, with all the cool weather up there and those high prices on NX you should reconsider your method of FI.

I openend a account with Airgas (welding supply store) here in Dallas and buy the 60 lb. bottle for 89.00 and lease the bottle from them you don't need a refill station if you put the bottle in ice and then gravity fill. Hope this helps.
