LS9 cam w/boost + ls3 / ls6 valve springs?
I just got a set of LS3 CNC GMPP heads that I can't wait to post results on. Wanting to know if I can run around 10 pounds of boost through Vortech A&A kit, using the LS9 cam and springs that came with GMPP heads.
specs on ls9 cam:
211/230 .558/.552 122.5 LSA
The setup:
LS2 with 17k miles on it
LS3 intake + LS3 GMPP CNC heads with stock LS3/ls6 style springs part number for springs: 12586484 , heads are 88958758.
Cloyes Hex adjust billet with c5r chain: 9-3172AZ
Sinc ethese heads come with brand new valve springs, i'm wondering if I would be able to get away using the 1.7" rockers with LS9 cam, and around 10lbs boost.
Has anyone done something similar, did you run into valve float issues?
I've prolly spent over 10k in mods/repairing car after accident, trying to see what I can get away with in mean time.
Also, something about GM springs, and reliability gives me a good feeling. Its either I keep these springs or go with PRC duals as the only single coils i'll trust are by GM. Had too many brand new out of box springs fail and only thing that saved the motor was the inner spring.

Perfect thats what I was looking for, what happened to the 918s with ls9 cam, valve float? How much boost.

yes I was floating the valves and on the dyno it started dropping power at 5200, running 15 lbs of boost put patriot golds in no problem now. you may get away with it at lower boost levels but not if you turn it up.
