Default 800 rwhp engine options

I am planning to bring my car to ECS for them to install my Novi 2200 on my H/C/I Z06. I was just going to stickwith the stock shortblock and run low boost, 5-6 lbs. However, I was able to raise a few more funds recently and am now thinking of building the bottom end.

I would like peoples opinions please, I am new to this "FI" thing:

1. Should I opt for just new Diamond Pistons and hope 800 is ok with the proper fuel system and other supporting mods. Cost?

2. Do I get a new built shortblock and sell mine? Cost? My motor makes 566/500 with only 17k miles it.

3. Any other options would be great to know as well.

Please include the costs associated with the options provided.

IMO ditch the LS7 block and go to a Darton sleeved LS2 block with good internals. The stock LS7 block/sleeve setup has weaknesses.

I actually have A motor/ A&A Ysi combo for sale, maybe you should send me your car, haha. PM me if you are interested.

We have been though this with a few customers who wanted to remain a 427 but ditch the LS7 block. We have some options available that usually make it best to sell your engine and just drop a new assembly in. The down time is very short that way, LS7's sell for good money IMO and usually quickly.

Sell the ls7 to some poor soul with a dropped valve and just buy a new block. That is what myself and another local did.

I'd probably let Doug work up a few options and go with one he recommends.

Personally, I would sell the running LS7 and drop in a built shortblock.

Yeah the LS7 can't handle the power. Oh wait I cover 1000rwhp easily with an LS7 without hanging an iron pig off the front of the car.

Yes you should sleeve it though but it's not that much to have done considering.

Money wise, LS7s fetch a lot so you could fund the built motor with its sale which is the biggest thing going for that argument. If you like the sound of saving some money then do that and build a LS3.

We use LS7 blocks on stuff that makes 1000rwhp all day long. Although when planning a full build from the start i usually suggest selling the LS7 and starting over with a 6 bolt block when going boost. The LS7 sells for good money and they sell fast. If you have any Questions or need any suggestions feel free to give me a call or PM me.

what is your driving style like? street, road course, 50 to 100 1/4 mile passes a year? if you're gonna beat the ***** off it i say go forged with all the good stuff, if your style of driving is more of a spirited blast here and there dont waste your money on a bottom end and you can still make upwards of 800 on a stock bottom ls7 with meth and tuned for safety.

What would a stock LS7 long block go for with a few thousand miles?

Realistically $6-$8K depending if you sell it with/without covers, pan, etc

Enough to cover a nice built forged bottom end

Doug please shoot me a pm or email me allen.m.jones@googlemail.com with some options you have in mind. As you know I am deployed to AFG right now so calling is hard at times. However, I will be back next month so I want to get the ball rolling asap.

I daily drive the car but also like to drag race once or twice a month along with road racing. Also, I would really like to start competing in the texas mile, silver state challenge and things like that.

That would certainly help with the cost, my current engine is in perfect condition. It made 566/500 on a crappy 91 octane tune and only has 17k on it.

Default 800 hp

I don't have an LS7, but I let ECS build me a forged LS3. I also run the PAXTON 2200 with the big blower cam along with meth and their stage 1 fuel system. I went with the Mantic twin disc clutch also. I currently make 828.4 RWHP and 717.9 foot pounds of torque. My car is one of my daily drivers. The customer service at ECS is great and they have never steered me wrong. Others may chime in. Good luck with your decision.

I just took my low mile stock block and put in the wiseco pistons that are used with the stock rods. this cost me 2100 bucks while the motor was already out of the car. We will see how it goes

I'm on a ls7 stock block and making 900+ rwhp and have been for awhile. Taylor from DP tuned it and with pump/meth I could not be any happier.

Thsi seems like a really good idea, maybe not so much to boost big amounts but more to add a safety net. Perhaps running 10 lbs of boost and making 800ish

That is insane, are you running the stock short block, or after marcket internals? If its on the stock short block, I had no idea they can be turned up and tuned that high, how much boost are you making and how long have you been running that setup?
