Default Fair price on ECS + Meth kit install

I just purchased a full ECS 1500 kit along with an Alky Control Methanol Injection Kit for my Corvette. My local shop which has done all the work for all of my vehicles (I wont say name, but they are very respected and a forum sponsor) quoted me $3,000.00 for installation of ECS Kit, Meth Kit and FI dyno tune. Sounded a bit high to me- what do you guys think. I am located in new braunfels, TX (close to Austin and San Antonio).

Maybe $1500 for the blower install, $500 for the meth install, $500 to tune and $500 for...

You do have to keep in mind that some demographic areas have to charge more then others simply due to cost of living there. We often cannot install our own kit as inexpensively as some of our dealers can in other areas of the country. We also may pay per month in taxes what some do all year...

Appreciate the feedback- the way they broke it down for me was:
1) Blower Install: $1,600
2) Meth Kit Install: $800
3) Dyno Tune: $600

I forgot to get quoted a price for install of ny new Dewitts radiator, maybe they will throw that in for free because Im getting charged so much.

$2500-$2800 seems normal for a complete blower/meth kit install and complete tune.

no cam?

meth kits take some wiring and can be a bit of a pain, so maybe they have a higher rate for electric work?

I agree. Gotta think too... Is saving 500$ really worth it if you're paying for expertise and quality? I probably could have gotten it done cheaper, but not better. ECS was my choice no matter what the cost was. Peace of mind is more worth it than saving a few hundred bucks on the install.

Paid $300 to have my meth kit installed because I was being lazy. That also included AFR and boost gauge.

Shop around, you should be able to get it less than that.

There is a MASSIVE difference in the quality of electrical work from shop to shop. Some places twist wires together, electrical tape the connections and don't sleeve the wires at all. Others solder, heat-shrink and sleeve. Still others do like OEMs and use continuous wire into connectors and sleeve. The difference from the bottom to the top will be 5 fold.

Personally I wire the last way with Teflon wire and either split or expanding loom, and I bill accordingly. Some of the crap I have come across rewiring jobs is ridiculous, you get what you pay for.

I'd have to totally agree. When you really take the time to do quality wiring and a clean, hidden install -- it isn't quick by any means. I know I spent a lot of time installing my Alky kit, but I do work on cars professionally (and am a bit of a perfectionist). I'd say it could easily take a full day of shop labor just to do a quality meth kit install.

Wiring was done like you said. Maybe they just hooked me up since they are friends but they did a great job.

Knowing someone always brings a nice discount. That's a legit price if it was a quality job!

800 IMO is more than double what the meth kit should cost to install. Esp if the shop has experience installing the kit you have.. It took me 3-4 hours to install mine

Yea, it takes way more time than people understand.

It sucks though when some guy quotes way less and does a horrible job which people don't normally see until something stops working or they happen to take a panel off, or something starts on fire, which is WAY more common than most would believe.

Choose your good trusted shop. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Speaking from experience here. My car is currently being completely rebuilt due to poor quality work and a supposed " trusted shop " that would not stand behind their work and fix the issues they caused.

There is a performance shop local to you that you can check with and compare prices.
