Yep, I’m looking at that already. That idler is a 60mm, so I could go with anything from a 76 to 100mm, but it will come down to available 8-rib belt sizes, which will dictate the position of the manual tensioner and that will in turn dictate how big I can go on that idler before the belt will make contact with itself when the ECS tensioner closes as the belt stretches at high rpm.

Here’s a very rough drawn () modification to Magnuson’s belt position drawing that demonstrates what I’m saying in the preceding post:
Apologies for the really rough “finger painting”.

Okay, so, as you all might’ve noticed by now, I can never leave we’ll enough alone. Well, actually maybe the problem is that nothing is ever well enough? Anyhow, I’m sure you get the picture...
Sooo, I’ve been planning this for a little while, after taking some measurements, thinking about it for a bit, etc., but I didn’t say anything in case I got egg on my face.
So, here’s the deal: After carefully measuring the 8-rib 3.2” (82.28mm) Griptec pulley that’s on the car now, inside and out, and seeing that there was a Griptec 3.1” (78.74mm) available, I decided to take the chance and order it. I just got it from UPS. And... it’s exactly 1.14mm larger than the bearing housing on the blower. That equates to something like .022” of clearance between the pulley and the blower. That should be enough, hopefully, to allow me to run this sucker and pick up another 1 psi or so. Here’s a couple of pictures showing the two measurements.
Does anyone thing this is too tight of a clearance to run?

I was looking at the 3.1 6 rib on their site one day and wondering if it would fit...out of stock though. I need it to help make up for my altitude loss.

So, got the new pulley on and reinstalled the belt. Think I need a shorter belt now, but not sure if the 100.1” that I have on the way isn’t going to be too short. I ordered a 74mm idler at the same time, but I’m pretty sure that won’t work. Then I checked the alignment on the upper manual tensioner pulley and that needed a spacer behind it to line it up perfectly with the balancer. See here:
Just by looking at them, you can hardly tell the difference between the 3.2” and 3.10” pulleys, though:

BUT, when I was taking the belt off the last time, disaster struck.
When I loosened the manual tensioner, I couldn’t hold the ECS tensioner with the belt tool (since I don’t have a third arm) and the minute I released the manual tensioner, the ECS one snapped shut violently and I heard something drop on the floor. After I installed the belt, I went under the car and found this:
At first, I couldn’t figure out what the hell this piece of broken aluminum was or where it came from...
Then, when I looked closely under the car, I found that the friggin ECS tensioner had broken, when it slammed shut, exposing the spring. I have no idea whether this will render it useless, but simply packed it up for the night at that point before I ended up throwing a hammer through the windshield of this ******* car.

Sorry Man, Without knowing exactly what an ECS tensioner looks like, it looks broke like my AC tensioner,
when my car was being tuned. Then the belt jumped a rib and squea
led its head off. Looks like yours
hit its stop hard when you released the manual tensioner, just like mine after a pull on the dyno. heres a piccy.

See the marks on the pulley where i'de say the broken bit went between the pulley and belt

That broken piece you have in your hand looks like the tensioner stop is included in it.
I never found the bit from my car. I'de say the good news, as long as the alignment is good and other **** doesn't happen,
that setup should stop belt slip! Here is hoping!

Hey Brian. How’s it going down there in Oz?
Yeah, it’s definitely the stop that broke off. Totally my fault for letting the damn thing snap shut like that. Mind you, if the belt ever breaks and it slams shut, it would no doubt do the same thing. My worry is that without the stop, if the belt comes off, the tensioner will slam straight into the balancer. No bueno.
The good news is that ECS has the replacement tensioner for $85, which isn’t a bad deal. I just tried ordering one, but it looks like I can’t select a shipping option, for some reason (probably because I’m overseas). I’ll contact them by email tomorrow.

They have the L3 3.10” 6-rib in stock. I know because I almost ordered it by accident. I wanted the L3, but they only had the L2 8-rib in stock. I can’t tell you for sure if the 6-rib fits, but the 8-rib does.

If it doesn’t, I have a SCOL/Griptec 3.2 and a 81mm Magnuson that I can send you. I’m starting to acquire quite a collection of pulleys and belts.

Ha, thanks for the offer but I have a well stocked cabinet as well...81, 90 and 96mm heartbeat pulleys with belts plus 3 lower balancer pullies and belts from my old ZL1 I still need to sell lol. The 79 won't gain me much but I'm trying to get 10psi at altitude without having to swap to an overdrive balancer because I'm lazy and I stupidly replaced it with a stock size one last year because "I won't need an OD drive". I hit about 9psi now so this should do it.
