Default eboost2 - Boost by gear

I really wanted boost by gear on my new rear mount twin build. In the horrible e40 world you don't have a lot of options but I went with an eboost2 and used the Dallas Performance bracked on the shifter for the switch mounting.

I did have to grind a little on the bracket to make it fit around the stock shifter. They said that they test fitted with several different aftermarket shifters so I would imagine if you have an aftermarket shifter, you probably wouldn't have to grind it. I just prefer the stock shifter.

The other change I made was to flip the switches that are mounted towards the back of the car to underneath the bracket. There was little to no clearance and I could see how those switches would break with some wheel hop. With them mounted underneath though, you get a good amount of clearance.

Here's the wiring schematic that I used to get the switches wired into the eboost2 using the external switching feature.

Essentially you get this:

Neutral and 4th+ gear = sp1 (max boost)
1st = sp2
2nd = sp3
3rd = sp4

I wanted to make sure that the wastegates would be closed between shifts (no lift shift tune). I don't know if it will make a difference, but it seemed like the most ideal configuration.

And here's a video of it working as I test fit the console.

Hopefully this helps someone else.

Pretty nice setup, good work with the wiring. Having max boost in Neutral is a neat idea, good thinking to keep em spooled in shifts.

Nice work. Thanks for the schematic. Do you have any pictures of the bracket and how you mounted the switches? I have the bracket and it would be really helpful to see the solution that you came up with.

Edit: I ended up looking at your photobucket account and have a good understanding of how it is set-up. Thanks again.

I don't have any good pictures of it out of the car but here's one I snapped when I was testing everything. You can see the arms from the microswitch that I had bent with needle nose to get good contact with the stud. The 2nd gear (top) switch is on top of the bracket. The two you can't see are mounted to the underside.

I used this Lingenfelter module with EBoost to basically do the same but Boost by Speed. I just calculated max speed for each gear and set boost curve accordingly

That will not be good for my case, because on pump gas I might just run 7k rpm, but on racegas or ethanol I might go up to 7500-7700rpm.

Could do different boost groups

would you mind to describe how you connect it ? is it connected to ECM VSS signal or to front tires ABS speed sensors ?

Yes...tapped into the radio VSS signal. Then the unit allows you to set the speed ranges to match up to the EBoost external SP settings. Here is a framework I use on my 06 based on the max speed per gear

Or get the Cortex/SIRHClabs boost controller and forget all those silly switches etc.

Haven't messed with mine much; as I'm still running on wastegate pressure, but the Cortex has a ton of features for a pretty affordable price. No extra modules needed.
