Built 6l80 blew. What's my options?

Sent it to Century and everything has been good since. Over twenty 10.2 passes on street tires. Would of been in the 9's if i wouldn't of left from a idle. Track sucked too.

1000+hp drag car then 4 speed auto or Glide...
is the reason why 6 speed autos are weak when added hp is becuase gears are smaller to fit in similar size casing?
then what will happne with 8 and 10 speeds ?! maybe the experts can weigh in

Gears don't break, the clutches slip. 8 speed auto is taking a beating, and can handle more torque than the 6 speed.

In the 6L80 the clutches burn and the baskets break..

Because 4l80 is just a bit different than a 4l60 which was offered in 1997-2005 vettes so the parts are out there to adapt. A 6r80 only has 2 cases, one for truck and one for stang, neither of which are transaxle cars. They don't have the input/output shafts, or any way to remotely bolt to the diff in a c5/c6. The fact that the corvette transmission is in the back and bolts to the diff really limits options. It isn't just adapting it to the motor and a custom mount/driveshaft.
I have a 6r80 in my 2012 gt, great tranny.

Figure what out? I wasn't figuring anything out, just stating that there is no 6r80 transaxle setups. That is still true.

Without even spending any time looking up the bolt pattern, I can almost 100% guarantee ford is not using GM LS bell housing patterns on their motors/trannys.

jlcorb - I would use the 6L80 with the LS3 mainly because you are going to have to have an ecm for the ls3 and the 6L80s have an internal tcm and have your wiring harness company source you a harness for both.
The 6R80s are controlled along with the coyote engines via car computer or whatever they use as they don't have a standalone tcm like the gm unit. Then you would have to have 2 computers and 2 seperate wiring harnesses.. Just my .02

Agreed it isn't a good idea, tons of cost, and custom work. Plus 6l80 will take all a LS3 can throw at it.

Rpm transmissions
Call RPM and talk to either Jeremy or Jessie. They did my A6 about two years ago. Or again, check out their website: I’m looking at it as I type this. They DO the A6!

Please share what you're looking at because I don't see anything on their site.

Just went through their whole website, and no mention anywhere of 6l80 builds. I don't know what he is looking at.

I did the same thing, with the same results. You really gotta wonder sometimes...
IIRC, I read somewhere that RPM used to build them and stopped, as did ECS, because their customers kept experiencing failures, most likely from guys messing with the tuning. There’s a lot of mythical hype out there about how “weak” these transmissions are and that a 4L60,65,70 is “stronger”, etc. which I will call BS on any day, from my experience.
From what I have seen, only Circle-D, Century and PATC build performance 6L80s. The fact that the quickest A6 C6 I’ve seen on these forums is running stock GM internals in his 6L80 makes you wonder whether these things need anything more than a good fluid cooler and a proper tune though. Seems the key is gearing and tuning it to keep it from shifting into 4th in the 1/4.

When mine went south.. I talked to Jeremy and he said they didn't build them but they used to. And he also said all they did at the time was a stock rebuild because nobody was making any aftermarket parts. Told me to go buy new from GM with warranty, which is what I did.
Keeping fluid cool and a really good tune is life of the 6L80!!
