Should be fine. I clean my engine with a water hose.. no problems, so I don't expect a bit of rain is going to hurt anything assuming you don't have a bunch of shoddy wiring

hey guys question foe the ppl that done this mode like me, do u guys drive when it rains?
i drove for 30 min the other day and it was raining, not hard but steady rain
i was afraid of electrical problems, but so far so good
do u guys think its safe in the rain or should i tape it up while driving??

Ive been caught in a DOWN POUR! Still g2g since i relocated breather as well to be safe.. I dont feel electrical is in any way at risk there but if you did side vents where fuse box is id be more worried..

Unless you messed something up, you can drive in the rain with no hood. All connectors are weather packed. You can hose the motor off, do whatever you want. Rain won't hurt it.

little update,
after installing this vent few months and 4000miles of daily driving coolant is at steady 192 at highway speeds, 199 street driving and 207-209 with ac on (100degrees outside)
my EOC on my Z is blocked off for reference (to help oil temps during street driving)
also gas mpg went down to 17-18mpg from 19-20 mpg average

Had my car resprayed so I had them shoot the vent gloss black as well. Between this, a new air dam and the rear hood weatherstripping removed, the car runs nice and cool.

took the plunge today. happy with the results.
First, like most have said, the majority of your time is spent measuring and checking and measuring and checking. took a bit of ***** to actually make the first cut. once that was done, there was no going back
i used a 4" cutting wheel (i recommend a smaller wheel).
I measured my initial hole dead center. The vent fit right in without any further cutting. (my hole was pretty big.. nearly too big!)
i used some bent pieces of aluminum to secure it. Took another 20 mins or so to measure and adjust exactly where i wanted it before i snugged it up.
This is about 7.5" from the top of the hood.
It touches ever so slighlty on the FRC on the passenger side. Nothing major at all.
it def looks FACTORY. looks very clean.
here's some pics...

You may have to shave the louvers. I tried it on mine and took videos from the inside when I closed the hood. The depth of the louvers were too much. Now if you went further down towards the nose of the car you had a better chance.

Do you have any pics and measurements on yours? I'm really wanting to do this. My car gets really hot in traffic despite all the other cooling mods.

My LPE hood gelcoat started to crack and bubble after driving it around for a week. Thats why I took it back. Thankfully I never cut into it or had it painted.
As far as heat removal I have a manual fan switch, and I have a custom L88 hood for excess heat removal. Plus I can remove my window for even more heat removal if needed. See my L88 posts in my profile.
