Don't wanna spend +$1k on a vented hood? Look no further!

Looks good.
Can you take another full photo, a tad closer, but out in the sun?
Do you ever feel as if you want to add side vents on the outter low points on the hood to make it look more race inspired?
I seen photos of one Vette here in the forum with Mustang vents, one each side, and it also looked good.
Wonder how this mod would look with 3 complimentary vents vs the one.
But I like your idea and submission. Cutting a perfectly good hood takes alot of willpower.

And another brave soul takes to it!!
Well done.
Did you have any fitment issues with the vent? I see your cut at the upper middle right side was slightly off. Did you have to trim it down or sand it? Or did it fit right away?
You guys sure are brave!!

I was debating on moving it but it's in a nice spot for now. You can see the throttle body and in my case possibly the nitrous solenoids when installed. It barely clears the interior bulge at the rear of the hood and cuts halfway into the brace at the middle of the hood so I think it's a pretty good spot. It's a large vent for sure.
Once I get my charge pipe back in and new blow off valve relocated I'll get her outside and cleaned off. Still need to finish the brackets for the vent too.

Anybody else get one from trackspec?

I was discussing vented hoods with the owner of ACS composite last night. They make the world challenge hood among others. He basically confirmed what I thought. They see no benefit in traffic or at standstill where we need it most. The benefits come when moving, to let air flow better and reduce lift from build up.

That is my experience. But it does cool better when moving, which means car is cooler when it comes to a stop so it does help, but if you are just idling forever, won't help that.

As ACS put it, a vented hood wont fix a cooling problem. LOL

It helped, and I need everything possible out here when it is 115 out. So if it keep coolant at 220F moving instead of 230, then when I stop, that is 10F more head room to go up waiting.

I agree that while cruising we don't need any more cooling, but when doing back to back WOT pulls on the highway, the temps will go up quickly. This is where have a vented hood should help. I would imagine it would also help significantly for anyone that's blown and interested in doing a road course track day.

It's still going to lower temps in traffic. Heat rises and I can feel the hot air venting out of the scoop after a short drive. The fans flow air as well helping to vent the hot air out. Is it a huge difference? No but it's enough for me to notice on a stop and go day when my car usually tries to melt my face off. It's no longer a worry to drive on a Summer day for me now.
