Sorry guys - I guess I should have labeled that pic a little better. The picture is from a Camaro I found online, not my car.

I have not done this mod yet. I was just putting this out there to see if someone else had or to provide info to anyone that might like to give it a try.

First, like most have said, the majority of your time is spent measuring and checking and measuring and checking. took a bit of ***** to actually make the first cut. once that was done, there was no going back

i used a 4" cutting wheel (i recommend a smaller wheel).

I measured my initial hole dead center. The vent fit right in without any further cutting. (my hole was pretty big.. nearly too big!)

i used some bent pieces of aluminum to secure it. Took another 20 mins or so to measure and adjust exactly where i wanted it before i snugged it up.

This is about 7.5" from the top of the hood.

It touches ever so slighlty on the FRC on the passenger side. Nothing major at all.

it def looks FACTORY. looks very clean.

here's some pics...

look great,

how did you secure the aluminium brackets to the hood?

I'm going to take a guess - no way this vent fits with an E-Force?

Another hood vent here on a 2008 Z06 completed. My cut was at 6.5" from the top as I didn't want to cut into the hood brace, yet I still manage to cut slightly in the lower brace. Another CF member did the same, maybe shorter? But I don't see how cut was done without cutting into the lower or upper brace as I had no room in the top brace. Anyway, I'm very happy with the results at 6.5". I cleaned the lower brace by filling it with Bondo, sanding, glazing then painting. The funny part is that I had silver VHT caliper paint left over from a rotor hat paint job I did last year and it matched perfectly to the underside of my hood in Machine silver, which has a matte silver finish. now working on the ZR1 splitter and side skirts.

Playing around with these side vents. I think they look good with the center vent. I already have the side vents and already have made some practice cuts from the extra material I have from the center cut out. These vents have very little error to be had in you cut, the lips are very small but doable. Will need to be painted to match center vent, but I already have the matching paint. Side vents are somewhat sharp squared on the top and I already managed to sand the to blend in the hood. we'll see if I add them later. ZR1 kit in satin black will be first.

My test cuts

those side vents look great. are they a GM factory part?

I added a vinyl stripe to my z28 hood vent, came out great. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Put the SLP center vent in last year are thinking about hexvents on the side. After mocking them up, they looked a little "wide" and in the process of slicing them down the length and removing a 2" section to thin them out. I like the shape, placement and look of your setup with the 2 side vents but not sure about the quality as they look like a single molded plastic part. Where did you get them ?

I went with the track spec kit, Couple hundred for the kit, had a body shop cut it in for a couple hundred.

My side vents are one piece as is my center vent. Sides were purchased off fleabay. still not sure if I will be putting them on, but the are a close match to the center.

For those wanting a real CF version of the Camaro hood vent; Anderson Composites makes one but it's $$$.

It seems there may be a concern of driving/parked in the rain/etc. Can you guys share your experiences with these vents!

I'm pretty sure I was the first guy to put the ZL1 vent on a C5 based on what I'd seen from this C6 post. I can honesty tell you that on the highway it lowers my car's temp by a full 10 degrees if not more. Low speed around town stuff, no real change though.

it does work, i had it on my orange c6 - see above- and it does reduce temps...cool thing was seeing heat waves shooting up about 2 feet above hood while stopped at a traffic light...
