Which injectors for my build... ID1300's or ID1700's???
Hey fellas,
We are just finishing up the build on my car and I'm at the final stage. We are trying to decide on an injector to complete the fuel system so we can get this beast on a dyno and see what she makes this week. My car is an 08 LS3/auto car with Z body and brakes.
The mods are...
-HKE 416 (fully forged) 10:1 compression
-Vortech YSI
-Dallas performance direct drive
-2.87 upper (8-rib)
-innovators west 10% overdrive balancer
-Greg Goode ported LS3 castings
-LS9 head gaskets
-Big FI cam spec'd by Pat G
-Circle D built 6L80E
-FTI 3800 converter
-magnafuel 750 pump w big lines
-Fast fuel rails
-ARP hardware
-Full bolt ons, etc etc
The car was on 93 and meth with my stock cammed Ls3 and a T-trim. I still have the meth kit installed but I will most likely turn it off and run e85 for fuel.
The car is expected to make 1000+ through the auto on boost alone. If everything holds and I can get it to leave consistently on my 15" setup, I may add a little nitrous later.
I know the ID1700's are brand new but has anyone here run them personally? I'm trying to decide between the ID1300's and the ID1700's.
I was told that too much injector can cause tuning issues on an auto car.
Im looking for a little help in deciding which route to go between the two sizes. I'd like the added room to grow with the 1700's but I wanted to make sure there are no issues with going that big before I order a set.
Thanks in advance guys!!

That whole "too big of an injector" ideal is because usually nobody has any injector data and it's all guesswork. Injector Dynamics supplies all that for you.
Go with the ID1700's.

I'm running ID1000's on a maybe 600rwhp setup.. no issues whatsoever.

I bought the ID1300s a couple months ago before the 1700s came out. I think they will be able to handle a 1000 on E with my Fore fuel system.

I appreciate the response! I was assuming that had something to do with it but I've had a couple different people tell me that they've had issues tuning auto cars with ID2000's when they were making 900-1000 rwhp. Now... maybe that's because they were much larger injectors but they should have still had the data to make them work. I just didn't know if the 1700's could possibly have the same issue. I know its a long shot but i was hoping someone here might have used the 1700's on a similar setup that could give me some good feedback.

I'm glad to hear the positive feedback guys! I started responding to the initial response before I noticed there were 2 more after it.
The 1300's will support 1000 on E with a good pump. They will prob support more than that. I've had a few people suggest the 1300's because they know they will work for sure but I'm concerned they may run a little short if i spray the car later. That's my main reason for wanting the 1700's. For the $150 difference... it seems like a no brainer as long as they will tune without any issues.

Yeah 1700s all the way then if you know that you will want more.

why not just get the ID2000 and never ever worry about it again? I think whenever i upgrade my setup i'll just do ID2000 and know never have to think about it again. lots of cars run those that run great on the street.

Yeah... I'm leaning toward the 1700's. I don't want to do the 2000's because they're far bigger than what I'll ever need and I've heard a few negative things about them. The 1300/1700's have the different injector tip as well which is said to be much better for running different fuels and that will benefit me with e85.

I made 1200rwhp on ID1000s on 91+meth. Was at 97% DC. Swapped to ID1300s to run E85. Either of those will max out a Ysi on pump or e85. I got 1300s because 1700s weren't out. Only downside to the 1700s is I think they are $200-300 more. if you want to drop $200-300 more, go for it, but either will work just fine.
Unless you do a dry shot, injectors don't care about spraying or not. Wet kits will supply their own fuel.

It was something I just recently learned as well. I was initially thinking ID1000's would be my answer. After some research and speaking to different folks... i was told the 1300's were a much better option for different fuels and I'd def need the extra injector for e85. I was dead set on the 1300's at that point until the 1700's came out. I figured for the difference, the 1700's are prob the way to go so I just went ahead and ordered a set. I'll know soon if it was a mistake or not... lol
