Just another Rear Mount Turbo build...
Well it all started almost a year ago when my stock LS3 connecting rod decided it had enough. Always wanted a turbo Vette so I decided then it was now or never.
So, I took the plunge. Sold my Ti blower kit, sold what was left of my motor, sold my fuel system and started fresh. Put together a build plan and started getting my parts together.
First to come was the Engine. LME put together an awesome deal for me in the form of an LSX 427 block, Callie's Internals, Wiseco Pistons, Cam Motion cam, TrickFlow heads etc. I wanted the motor for boost so we kept the compression under 10 at 9.8:1.
Had the shop that pulled the old motor out drop it in, and while they were in there, had them upgrade the fuel system to a Fore triple pump setup, in conjunction with a flex fuel kit from DSteck.
After this I brought the car home to take on the next stage. Decided that with all the power I was planning to make, I would need something to help me put it to the ground. Manga Performance stepped up and hooked me up with an AEM Infinity ECU with all the goodies.
Also picked up some new Injectors to handle my E85 flow needs. ID2000s.
Next, I got in touch with Boomslang, and was able to get a top notch custom harness to piggy back my stock ECU with the AEM Infinity.
Once it was all in I got to work:
(Trim pit switch to select maps)
Once I got all that in, car went back on the flatbed, this time over to my buddy Kyles shop. I'm sure he will chime in! I'm sure some have seen his white rear mount build thread in here...
Meanwhile: more parts came in:
There, work began on getting a little 8496 plumbed out back:
Started with stock manifolds but ended up having to go Z manifolds to clear the 6 bolt heads. Just FYI to others, it WON'T fit lol
Turbo in place:
😍
Wierd place for an alternator...
To help keep things under control:
Before continuing with the Hotside, I decided to upgrade my stock LS3 manifold........
Picked up a Hi Rise, a TPIS 102mm TB from SinisterC6, and kyle worked his magic mounting and putting together the vacuum setup with the Vibrant block.
(Disclaimer we are having to relocate my regulator. Sat too high with the new manifold and wouldn't clear the hood. Pics to come.)
Getting ready to mount the manifold, after some "massaging of then glass near the windshield, and losing a passenger windshield wiper lol
Next I worked up the courage to start cutting my hood. Once it's complete I want to get a piece of stainless cut to fit in around the cut as a trim piece.
The plan is to mount the two red Tial BOV on the IC to TB pipe and have them stick out of the hood half way as well. For now, this is the best picture I have.
And that's where we are. Cold side needs to be finished, tips done, Treadstone intercooler installed and the fuel system buttoned up. Then sending out the Hotside for coating.

Thanks guys. Hopefully it doesn't all decide to act up when she is ready to get fired up. Lots of new components that haven't been tested.
I sold my Meth kit and will be running the car on e85/pump only. Goal is to max out this turbo on corn we shall see how far it goes but definitely over 1kwhp. I'm excited to experience that!!

Lots of ships sailing to turbo land, including me. It's never ending.
