That's what my friend at work recommended too. If I go this route should I do both sides or just the passenger side since that's the only side feeding the catch can?

I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with the engine based on running temps. It cools down very fast once it's moving, that proves its a low speed air flow problem.

As for the oil in the catch can, that definitely "could" indicate something is hurt (pistons) but.... If you are running Katech valve covers, no baffles and pulling ventilation off of the valve covers to the catch can, you will DEFINITELY push oil through the covers.... However a full catch can in a couple pulls is a LOT even with no baffles.

You have to tig weld some baffles in your Katechs. I literally NEVER get anything in my catch can, other then oily condensate.

Well, I've seen this (running hot) on both supercharged and normally aspirated cars with cammed engines during cruising.

Now, especially with normally aspirated cars, there's nothing to block the airflow and on the other hand, not that much hp/wasted energy either. With right timing, I've been able to get rid of running hot situation.

But on the other hand these experienced guys below have different opinion and I do respect them. So it's really up to you.

In any case, with your power level, I'd install an EGT sensor.

Comment: a bit more may be required.

Comment: depends on cam used, as well as static compression. You may need as much as 45 degrees of advance while cruising.

How much advance "ajrothm" is running while cruising?

How about "Nino S"?

32-34* in the cruise ranges. Commanded idle timing is 24*, but ofcourse it swings all over the place when its in the idle sequence... 18-26* swings I believe.

What's your compression ratio? And cam (roughly, no exact numbers needed)?

I'd say you're running too little advance.

But to be sure, either a dyno test or EGT temperature measurement would be needed.

Idle timing while stationary is now irrelevant. But those numbers are of course common.

I thought you guys were building the setup with the Brushless Spal/Nuova fans? (Your advertisement mentions restricted flow improvement - hence brushless). I'm just curious as I thought about the non brushless Extream fans myself.
Sorry for the delay in response. SPAL themselves have confirmed that the fans we use flow more than the comparable brushless fans. That was a big factor, as well as price and availability, and the added components needed to use them.

Finally getting hot here. 117f today, 118f tomorrow. Still ice cold AC and a smooth good running car. I love my Vette.

There are some issues, like the vinyl wrapped roof like to peel up when it's that hot.

have you looked at the D3 shroud fan set up?

That is probably going to be my next route to go. I am so frustrated with the car at this point that I bought another car to enjoy for 2016.

I think I said start with a gtr r8 Gallard etc when we first talked. Putting $40k into a 100k works out better than 100k into a 40k car. D3 setup won't fit or work with cutdown radiator. So would have to deal with that.

I ordered a D3 setup this morning. Should be installed on the car by the end of the week.
