Dual spal vs stock fan

Stock fan cools better than the standard dual spals that dewitts sells. Now if you are talking other spal setups like the dual D3E setup, that works much better than stock fan.

I'm gonna try adding more shrouding to the stock fan so it pulls air over the entire radiator.

Slo-Poc has the D3 setup on his car. Futral said it was a tight fit but they made it work. I drove his car around some to help break in his Mantic triple and I can tell you besides the clutch being amazing that the D3 setup really really works.

D3's fans setup? What radiator?

On paper with nothing in front of them in theory. Reality and theory are vastly different and once you put a restriction in front free flow numbers mean nothing.

Yes I use the 17" brushless. It puts the standard duals to shame. Locals have started swapping to the dual d3 PWM and that works much better than the 17".
Fans in order of how great they work
D3 PWM dual
17" Nuova
Stock with wiring upgrade

What do you mean "stock with wiring upgrade"?
I found this. Fully shrouded stock fan. Looks like it came on 05 C6 and 05-09 XLR's. Might be an upgrade.

I just went through a cooling project myself on my F1X/Z06. I ended up with a 17" brushless from dewitts on a shorty radiator. I also had a lot of aluminum ducting made to block off the side and top so it is drawing as much air as possible through the fan. My first choice was D3 but I was told that it was not set up to work with the short Dewitts radiator. We have had 2 weeks of rain until yesterday and it was only 65 degrees so I really cannot say it is all fixed or not but I never saw over 195 degrees after a pull so I am at least 30 degrees better then where I was with the dual SPAL fans from dewitts, the duals are a waste of money IMO.

I haven't had any issues with the stock fan and a 160 stat in my aluminum block SC engine. With some iron block applications that D3 fan will help out since they tend to run hotter.

Factory with wiring upgrade=ditch the PWM controller and run a direct relay power source. It allows the fan to move more air.

Its all about CFM moved with the restrictions in front of the fan (radiator/condensor/intercooler/etc, thats why our fan setup works so well since we use the extreme duty Spal fans, the other reason it works well is we shroud the complete radiator surface area. Our setup is also 100% plug and play and fan speed can be controlled through the factory ecu still! Also with our fan kit we haven't had to upgrade any radiators, OEM cools perfect!

90% is generally the max.
And the stock wiring is pretty small. I saw something ECS had posted about by just changing the wiring they had a significant difference in airflow--enough to avoid having to do any other cooling mods on a car that was running too hot and was about to get a round of cooling system mods, for whatever that is worth.

And even then, 90% isn't the same as direct from battery/alt.
