Default Starting a blow motor that has sat for 12 Months

Is there anything to be concerned about starting a engine that has sat for 12mo. Has a YSI Blower and 8 Rib. I just changed the oil.

I would pull push rods and CMD on the tips, on the ends of rockers and valve tips, other than that prim the motor before starting.

Prime the fuel pump by hitting the start button without pushing the clutch or hitting the brake I believe. How old is the fuel? As long as the fuel is still good I don't see an issue. Monitor oil pressure and temps after she cranks and enjoy the blower noise.

Start it. People pull engines out of a field after sitting for decades by powering fuel in and going.

if it was me I'd probably start it up on some cheap oil, let it run for awhile, and then drain it out and put good oil in. of course fuel is likely garbage so hopefully that was drained already and replaced with fresh.

drain all the fluids first, refill, prime and fire. It probably wouldn't hurt to do a flood start so it rolls over a few times, builds oil pressure and lubricates everything before it starts firing.

Exactly if it has been run before but sat for a year with no stabilizer in the fuel. Then the ONLY thing I'd be doing is draining the fuel and putting in fresh gas and even that I wouldn't get carried away just get what you can and then fill with fresh 91/93 depending on where your at.

the engine will be dry and oil will be in pretty rough shape. Depending on what shape it was in before it was parked, can leave the oil pretty acidic.

Oil changes are simple and cheap, so's priming the motor... why not. Assuming everything is ok and starting it up dry seems like a hell of gamble.

**I missed you comment about already changing the oil, prime the motor and five it a shot.**
