IGN1A Coils
Just order a LS IGN1A coil kit. Have 2 with damaged ends, and even though they work fine, its winter so I have to do something to the vette. Figured try something out that could help the community since I"m nice like that. Ordered 8 1A coils.
Holley, AEM, etc etc all mark and sell these coils.

So going to test them out and see what I think. Suppose to idle better, better MPG, and better WOT spark.
Yes I realize they are probably a waste of money but I shall see.

And a cheap AutoZone starter. My priorities are probably backwards.

interesting. in for results. I remember some thread on yellobullet a long time ago where Kurt Urban was saying he saw something like 7-8whp gain and smoother power curve by cranking up the dwell on some truck coils to crazy levels on what I believe was a ~800hp setup, so I could easily see some gains on your setup and improvement although might take a dyno to see it.
cool stuff.

All the big name places run these coils on high HP stuff. 2000+hp stuff so I know they are good coils and will support more power than I'll ever make. Steve Morris sells them, AEM, Holley, etc. The power output is huge compared to stock. Question is how much of a difference on a 1000-1300hp car.

I remember the thread on YB.
It will be nice to see an A-B test of these coils in your application.

When do coils go bad?
I bought a used 2007 Z51 with 100k miles a few years ago. It now has 140k miles on it and still runs great. I asked the original owner if he ever replaced plugs and wires and he said he did not. So I figured it was time to do so. Bought some AC Delco replacement iridium plugs and some OEM wires from Autozone. They are installed no problem.
Now I see the original coils and want to know how much longer they will last. Do they have a recommended life (miles or time) or recommended replacement? Or is their performance/life binary (simply good or bad) and replace when they go bad?
Thanks in advance.

No need to touch them, and no need to do anything unless you want to spend $300-400 to feel good.
Stock coils have made 1500+hp. I'm doing this as a test to see if there is a difference. my car makes well over 1000rwhp, but on a near stock car, I couldn't imagine touching the coils unless something indicates you need too.

Thank you. I will sit tight until the EEC tells me otherwise.
Can you recommend a thread or resource on supercharging a C6? I'm thinking I may want to do it. But have questions on brand, style, other equipment needed to realize all the power.
Just education at this point.
Thanks again.

Call Doug/Alex@ECS or Josh@A&A, or your local performance shop that will be installing one and talk to them on what they like.
If you are close to Fathouse in Indiana I would just go talk to them and have them throw whatever on the car.

Everything shipped out today. Drive train is out for clutch swap and other upgrades. Going to get it back together and moving before messing with stuff just so I'm not chasing my tail trying to figure out what caused an issue if I have an issue.

I bought these for my TT build. I've actually scoped their outputs after testing a truck coil. It was a year ago when I tested them. I kept increasing the dwell and the output continued to increase without reaching the saturation point. Even though I never took the time to reach the dwell limits of this coil during testing, the output was insane compared to the stock coils. No way you'll be disappointed, that's for sure.

How much gain you noticed and on what boost levels ?

Thats part of the problem. What gain? Are you talking HP? Increased gap on plug? Gas Mileage? Throttle response?
No one is going to notice 20rwhp on a 1000+hp setup.
Shipped out yesterday. Just a note, these are not cheap and probably not an upgrade anyone in the <1000hp range should be looking at.

Off topic, What happened to your clutch?? Which clutch you going with??

Nothing per say happened to it. Still drives and runs fine. Just found the limits of the twin disc. Kept adding power, and found where it starts to slip up top. So swapping to a mantic triple. At ~1020-1040rwtq the dual holds fine, but it up a little and it spins at 4500+ when it hits peak torque. Turn it down, holds just fine again.
