COMPLETELY NEW STYLE SECONDARY DRIVE now Available
We've had these on a few cars for testing with great results.
Our new Secondary Drive DOES NOT use the AC belt to drive the accessories. The AC belt remains untouched.
The traditional style drive used the AC belt to drive the jackshaft.
On C6 there is no additional idler above the AC belt to add belt wrap so we made a bracket to add this idler. That was a big help to the C6 that often had belt squeal issues when the AC was on and the steering wheel was turned sharply.
I have a mockup motor with no pistons and only three bearings for testing. You can spin the snout with your fingers.
I tested different designs by locking the alternator and turning the crankshaft with my digital torque wrench to see how much torque it took to start slipping the 4 rib belt.
A standard C6 (no idler) took about 22# to barely start slipping the 4 rib belt.
The C5 (or C6 with our added idler) was close to 30#.
The new design, which has a really short belt, full wrap around the crank and a dedicated spring tensioner, was over 60#. Moving the tensioner by even 1/4" showed it dropping to under 50#. The position and angle have to be perfect, much like our supercharger tensioner.
The upper belt that drives the alternator and power steering also have a dedicated spring tensioner.
Another issue was bearing load. Other designs have two belts at opposite ends of the jackshaft pulley that are pulling in opposite directions. This made for high side loads on the bearings and many instances of failure. Our pulley has the two belts side by side which takes a lot of side loading off the bearings. The bearings can now be put right under the belt load.
Innovators West is producing our proprietary balancers needed for this system.

Can IW modify an existing balancer to run this belt setup. Looks like mine would need 4 more grooves cut for the new belt.
Will the lower jackshaft pulley/tensioner be sold separately to retrofit a currently installed system? Will it work with other flip drives like Dallas Perf? Price? Availability?

Looks good. I and several friends of mine had all those issues. I'm lucky enough to have a very similar setup on my car now for almost 25k miles trouble free.

The complete setup retails at $1300 including the balancer for now.
Hell, a regular 8 rib setup is $1100. Kind of a no brainer if you're starting fresh.
Yes and no on having your existing balancer cut. They can't cut the old one but they can replace the shell with the updated one. I did a couple and I forgot what they charged me.
Same deal though, they won't sell the shells to anyone else.
Yes, I'll sell the pulley separate. You'll need the lower bracket, tensioner and belts as well though. I haven't thought about pricing on separate items .
i would think it would work on the DP Direct drive. The upper stuff has to be in line with the 6 rib grooves on my pulley.
As for a link on my website, we're building a whole new one. It will be on that one.
I think I have the parts for about ten right now, but I'm not sure.

I've had IW swap shells several times. Cost me $300ish each time. So assuming your extra maching doesn't add a lot of cost, it will be right around $300 to get a IW converted.

I have no issues to date with the previous system, but if any do arrive I will move to this setup. It seems much better to me.

I just recieved my YSI 10 rib setup with secondary drive 2 weeks ago. If I am to have issues in the future with jackshaft bearing failure will it require a new damper? I noticed several extra grooves on the backside, which is why I ask.

Ah OK I'm seeing it now lol. This morning when I was looking at it I thought it was the a/c belt spinning the jack shaft, didn't notice the 3rd belt.

Our jackshaft pulley had 3 bearings to alleviate this problem. I was talking about other brands.
