Default Traction issues. BEST 17 inch Tire for 1100whp??

What kind of 17 inch tires are 1000 whp vettes using for the best traction at the track and street ?
Video of my car last week at the track posted below . I was only able to get one pass so i wasnt able to get much testing and tuning done . This was also my first pass on the new setup .

I have used the m&h 325/45/17 and it's ok when fresh but now I have the 305/45/17 MT R and it's an improvement but definitely gives up high speed stability if you like high speed fun.

The street S/S is supposed to have a hardened sidewall but same compound as the R.

I'd warm them up a little more as well, that's a 17x12 correct?

At the track, the discontinued 26x11.50x17 MT ET Street Bias Ply seemed to work well if the prep was good.

A Hoosier 28x10x17 slick also works well.

What tire were you using?

My current tire is a 325/45/17 M&H
Works well when brand new but quickly lose their bite at this power level

In my experience, a high horsepower manual transmission C5/C6 requires a bias ply tire to be successful at the drag strip. It also takes just the right technique with the clutch and throttle during the launch.

Fast forward to the 0:50 mark of this vid to hopefully get an idea of what is going on during the launch. The 60 foot was only a 1.58 on this pass, but it was enough to get the job done. With more practice another tenth could probably be shaved off the sixty. There are vettes going even quicker, but I was still using a stock trans and diff at the time and needed to drive it back home.

Here's one from outside the car. This was a 1.54 short time but I messed up on the 3-4 shift.

For me the M&H was a much better street tire in the 17" versus the MT!

What's the power level in this video and which slick are you running if you don't mind?

Are you referencing the new 17" ET Street R or the old ET Street drag radial?

This was at 800rwhp and a 26x11.50x17 MT ET Street Bias Ply. The wheel was a 17X10. Best pass was 9.96@145.

Thanks. I wish that tire was still in production.

Do you ever make it to SETX? I live near Beaumont and still have those tires. They are a few years old but only used at the track and always stored indoors. You can have them if you want to come and pick them up sometime. I took them off to switch to the 28" slick.

Wow that's a really nice offer thank you so much. I'll have to see if I can make some time when I go visit the family in Lake Charles here soon

Here's one more with a 28" tall Hoosier slick. This was after being away from the track for a couple of years and the boost controller turned off.

The R, but I'm referring to street use.

Ok, I'm on the 305/40/18 SS currently and was thinking about switching to the 305/45/17 R for the runway. You think it's worth making the switch?

Same compound but the SS has a stiffer sidewall, if you were going to get some for the track I'd go slicks.

Thanks. I have 17" slicks for the track and no issues there.

With an 18 inch drag radial on the runway, I can plant 13psi in 3rd and ramp it to 18 psi. Also, 4th seems to hook ok at 18 # of boost from 130mph to 165 mph. I'm looking to add another 200rwhp and trying to determine if the 17" ET Street R would work better than the 18" ET Street SS. They are both 28 inches tall.
