Default How much power can a stock c6 clutch handle??

I have a c6 LS2 with the stage 2 eforce superchager kit making 515/520 and i burned through a brand new clutch in 4k miles... Ive barely dragged the car and dont normally drive the car hard. If anyone has clutch recommendations for that power please share.

Should have been fine IMO

What clutch? Stock or something else?

Mantic twin or Monster LT1-S twin is what I'd do. I have the Monster. Tons of people here love the Mantic so that's a good option too.

I typically have great luck with clutches... one trick I use is if my foot is on the clutch its to the floor...(Off or On) otherwise my foot does not touch the clutch and its firmly planted on the dead pedal. I watch friends drive their standards and they don't even know that their foot is unnecessarily on the clutch when not needed to be. Even a small amount of foot pressure can cause the clutches to slip without you ever knowing. Again, for me its an "OFF or ON" thing... I do not do slow engage or release. Obviously from a slow start you have to do a relatively slow release however its a quick engagement when compared to most. The quicker the engagement the longer the clutches will live.

I know everyone will say... "well dahh, who doesn't know that" however more people need to prematurely change clutches than not... so something is causing early wear. I have had clutches last over 160,000 miles and I drive WOT 100% of the time!

Take a look at your driving style and be mindful of your left foot position... Obviously a good quality clutch is a plus, but even those are not safe from bad practices.

SPEED SAFE. NICK

"stock" from what the dealership told me. I was looking at the Mcloed Twin disk rst looked like the best bargain.

I believe it was something to do with the master cylinder. Clutch was sticking to the floor a week before it went and we swapped the fluid out and seemed to drive fine with good pressure for a week until the clutch was toast. might have to look into the tick master cylinder

Yeah it's probably the cheapest option

They seem to be really hit or miss. People either love them or hate them.. Camaro community leans more towards loves, C6 guys are more towards hate. But, like I said, some people here run them and love them so who knows why there's such a disconnect. I don't know if it's installer error or just inconsistent quality from McLeod.

Personally I'd still probably do Mantic or Monster so you don't have to worry about it. The horror stories of people having to re-shim the slave to get a McLeod to either work or stop slipping don't sound like much fun to me

It all depends on how you drive the car. My 2005 made 550 whp and an original clutch. Piston ring land let go at 75k miles and during the rebuild, the clutch still has 50% of the lining left. The car now makes 720 and again I am running a stock clutch.

At 65k miles, my LS3/7 clutch was slipping on the dyno at 602 rwhp. Mantic 9000 twin disc gets my vote.

I have heard horror stories about Monster though. Not everyone is going to be happy all the time though.

My OEM Clutch held up to 750 Hp and looked fine when I took it out. But I think it was because I only Roll Raced and 1/2 Mile Raced the car. No Dig Racing. I installed the Mantic Twin Disc and it Grabs Hard and takes any abuse I give it. So if it is apart I suggest the Mantic.

Mantic but even a Mantic single should hold that power. With the labor involved in a C6 clutch job, do it once , do it right.
