Shipping used supercharger
I purchased a supercharger from a fellow Corvette Forum member. When he went up to ship it at UPS last night, they wanted to charge over $500. This is weird because I've shipped full sets of wheels/tires in the past for less money than that.
So I'm curious for those of you who have shipped parts like this in the past, how did you do it? One box? Multiple boxes? Insured for the full amount? (that's part of what is killing the shipping cost it seems)
Any insight would be great.

If it's a complete kit, shipping from one coast to the other it will be expensive. $500 is maybe probably undoubtedly excessive. If he is shipping in one box the size and weight would have to be shipped by freight company and if that's the case 500 would not be excessive.

I shipped mine to Procharger for $150 via UPS, and that included $500 insurance (which racked on another $50 or so).
Put it in a box stuffed with an excessive amount of packing.

Insurance is always going to kill you on stuff like that, unfortunately. I shipped a Procharger setup for under 200 bucks all-in-all. I had to use 2 boxes since I was utilizing what I had laying around. May have been cheaper with a single box. I found FedEx was cheaper than the competitors for my situation. This was a full procharger setup for a C6. 500 is way too much

Someone shipped one to me in a couple of plastic storage container. He put locks on the boxes and game me the number to get inside. It was an easy transaction.
