I'd like to order a cast iron forged 408 soon and would like your imput. Whats your setup? What's your compression ratio? What kind of blower do you have? How much hosepower? Did the extra 100 lbs make uou regret getting iron? Any and all info would be great. My setup is ECS 1500, cam is 235/251 115 LSA. Manual trans, Spaying meth for saftey. The compression ratio is key, I'm wondering if I can get away with 10:1 or should I go lower maybe 9:1 I'd like to remove the restrictor plate. I had fun with with the old LS2, may it rest in pieces. Learned a ton of stuff, took a bunch of baby steps, now it's time to turn things up a bit. Please chime in, thanks!

Turn up the meth and keep compression ratio up IMO

If E85 is available there then that would be even better

I did an Alum block 402, 10.5 cr ECS Novi 2200r on e85, should be good for 1000+

I would love to do e85. The closest place to get it is 13 mikes away (we're talking about Los Angeles miles here not regular miles) hence the Alky meth kit, maybe I need to rethink that. Obviously this isnt a daily driver but, fueling up would be a thing.

I used to have alum ls2 408 stroker and now have LSX block 427 setup with D1 blower at 900whp and 9.75:1 compression.

if I was going to do again I would have not even do a stroker and go with a 376ci if pushing 4 bolt setup and I'd use LSA heads. I think once you get closer to 1k hp that just hooking it up on the street becomes the issue and having more low/mid range torque might even make the car slower and the smaller ci should make for a stronger bottom end. I'd also go with 10:1 compression at a minimum. I run meth and 91 pump gas and I could get away with more compression for sure. If I'm going to be taking the car somewhere I'll be driving it hard I just put in a few gallons of 100 octane unleaded which can be bought cheaply from pump nearby although my car doesn't need it. I just do for peace of mind.

You can feel the extra weight in the corners for sure but really not a big deal. if you're on drag radials you're not going to be going crazy in the turns anyway

Agreed with neverstop. Do a nice forged 376 or even 390. 10.5:1 or so. LSA or nice heads, and max out the blower.

I think hyperfuels in texas delivers e85 and e98 anywhere but honestly if you look around I bet you'll find a place that has 100 octane at the pump and mix that in with your normal pump gas and you'll be fine. I looked at buying a few 55 drums of e85 and by the time i did that and upgraded fuel system, tune etc it started to get kind of out of hand cost wise.

You can make 900whp on 91 pump gas and methanol without too much trouble. e85 is amazing and I wish I could run it but not totally necessary for your goals imo.

Just do a flex fuel setup so you can run it when you have some. A nice 376 with a minimum comp of 10.5:1 is a solid setup.

It'll never make enough power to trouble an aluminium block.

All good advice guys, thanks. I'll look into how much e85 is delivered. If it makes sense I'd do that, great idea. I'll look into what it takes to put an LS3 into an LS2 car. 100 pounds is a bunch, it was bugging me. I was looking for bulletproof after my motor went. As i found it
