Threw a belt. Not car overheats
Threw the belt supercharged c6z. Was the blower belt. Now the car overheats while idling. What could it have hit to cause this? Not only that but pretty sure my starter is shot bc service chsrging system light is on too. Ahhhhh

Look at your fan connection, may actually not be related to the belt breaking but they burn a lot. Then check codes and see what is causing the light.

when you turn the car off you can hear the fans running for a minute or two then they shut off, so i'm wondering what happened lol.

If you have a single belt setup the blower belt will power the water pump (cause for overheating) and also power the alternator (cause for the charging system light).
Replace your blower belt and all will go back to normal.

Uhhh yes.
There are 2 belts on car. AC belt from crank to ac compressor, and one long belt that runs everything else. PS, Alternator, waterpump, blower. So if that belt is missing, car will overheat and not charge.

Everyone assumed you REPLACED the broken belt, is that not the case? If you broke the belt and didn't replace it then the water pump isn't turning. Great for high coolant temps.

Did not put a belt on. The car must have gotten hot enough idling my garage that it shut itself off. Heard it turn off and ran out there. Turned the car on and it was about 250 degrees. Grrr

I had an issue with my AC belt throwing at WOT. Replaced the AC belt and it threw again at WOT. Replaced the AC tensioner and all is well.
You could have a bad main belt tensioner or an alignment issue.
Like others have mentioned, no main belt = overheating, battery drain (alternator not charging) and power steering inoperable.
Throw an AC belt = AC not working.

whaaa???!
You ran it without a belt until it overheated to the point of shutting itself off? And now you're wondering why that happened and why you're getting the service charging system message on the DIC?? You're shitting us, right?! What did you think would happen?

Wow, that is amazing.
At this point, I hope the motor survived. Running a car without a water pump to the point it kills itself is not a good idea.

Haven't seen you post in a while. I was talking about my buddies future build and your issues with the F2 with Bad Chad. Said you moved out to Katy. Hope all is well buddy.

Yeah moved out here a couple of years ago. Cracked the block in my car first time I took it to the track after my rebuild. Bout to sell the F2 and go back 7 or 800 hp. Had more fun with the car back then.

why don't you just retune it? I set my rev limit to 6k. That is still plenty for the the street. I don't know if you tune your own car. But I do so it's pretty easy for me to change tunes.
