Default Iron block/nitrous guys step in

Right now I'm still debating what route I want to go, I know for big power iron blocks are pretty much unavoidable, so I'm planning on going iron 6.0 based 408 and a 300 shot in my quest for 8s. Has anyone here gone iron and regretted it? If so why? Looking for personal experiences with an iron block big shot setup. I'm thinking a Thompson motorsports 408 with custom pistons, crank, rods, 1/2" head studs, etc. I rather not fill the block as I plan on still driving it on the street. If you had to do it again, what would you do differently and what would you recommend? Just don't want to commit and find out I should have went with a different ring gap, set of pistons, basically do it once and do it right.
