Nitrous Timing question
I only have 1 nitrous tune, which takes out 6 degrees of timing. Good for 150 shot.
My question is, can I sneak a 2nd stage 100 shot on top of that or would that be a really bad idea? I have a big race coming up and don't have the time to get an altered tune.
it's a forged 390 iron block with a stand alone fuel system @6psi.
thanks guys

The only way to know is to log a run. I would not run the car with an additional 100 shot without pulling more timing. That is a horrible idea. 1 or 2 degrees too much timing could mean catastrophic failure in just seconds.

alright, I'll log the 150 runs and adjust from there. That will give me time to get the timing switched via tunes.

what is total timing at? if you have a stand alone fuel system put better fuel in it and let it rip. I did a ls2 with a 200 shot pulling off the fuel rail (aftermarket) with no issues. We put 100 octane and bumped up the timing a touch at the track.

No you should not do that. This is the exact reason for using something like an LNC-2001. If you had done that you could adjust the amount of timing pull independently from the tune and still have kept full power NA. Pulling 6 degrees on 250 shot will likely hurt your engine.

Whenever you are adding more nitrous to your set up over what you are currently spraying we always recommend additional timing be taken out.
For example lets say you have a dual stage plate and you want to spray 150 for the first kit and you want an additional 100 on a button. For the first 150hp you could have your tuner pull the correct amount of timing out for you. Now your motor will always have "x" amount of timing removed. (you stated 6*) You would then run a LNC 2000 and program the box to remove the timing needed for the 2nd stage 100 shot on the button. If you wire the LNC 2000 properly to the second stage arming switch it will pull timing when you arm the second stage and then push the activation button. So if your motor already has 6* of timing removed from it and if you program the box to remove lets say 5* for the 100 shot you will have now taken total of 11* of ignition timing from the ignition map for a total of 250hp worth of nitrous. I'm using 5* as an example as I do not know exactly what amount of timing is needing with your specific engine combination to remove
We do sell our window switch that will control 2 stages of nitrous based off of RPM and TPS. You could always use the second stage out put wire to send 12v signal to the orange wire of the LNC 2000 and it will pull out additional timing once the second stage is activated.
