1k+HP Drag setups
After researching ive seen a million different setups. What size wheels and tires is everyone running for 1k+hp setups? im look at some welds and possibly hooisers/mt/m&H. it will be for strip/street racing. mainly hits on our local mexico street. im currently running 345/30 nt05r as a daily tire

At that level you're going to need spindles and 15's.

It is not a question of power level, but the amount of power being put down off the line. If you launch at high RPMs with heavily modified suspension, then you want a bigger sidewall to help absorb the initial hit off the line. Even with high RWHP, if you leave at lowish RPMs and have being much stock suspension a 17" drag radial is fine.

im looking at keeping the stock suspension and brakes (still majority street car) so im going to go with weld 17 or 18s. was wondering how wide rim and what size is hooking best.

Depending on condition of what you're racing on a 17 inch slick/radial should be ok. 17x10 with a 305/45 Et street R or Biasply slick is the most commonly used 17inch tire I've seen.
Radials will be harder to make hook on the street or no prep surface. A slick is easier to make hook and typically more consistent.
If you're primarily roll racing the car from highway speeds a 17 inch radial will be fine. Dig racing will be a little harder.
Like others said I would recommend a 15 inch wheel and spindle kit. Carlyle kit allows you to use e brake etc.

I too have the M/T drag radial R 305 45 17 with a 11.5 inch wide rim and works but a 10.5 would be better width rim for that tire.
I should say these tires are superior by far compared to nto5r and even Hoosier drag radial R
if you could grab a hold of knurled beads rims highly suggested.
