Please help: ECS vs HEARTBEAT vs "other"..which blower is quietest?
Hi guys,
I need your help on selecting a blower for my 2010 GS. Which setup with be the quietest under light load or cruising conditions? I really don't want anyone ( especially the wife ) to know the car is supercharged when I'm not driving aggressively. I was ready to grab my friend's ECS kit that was making 600RWHP on his stock LS3 auto but geeez....that thing is LOUD!!! Sounds like a street sweeper on steroids....VERY loud "wooshing noise" when slowly coming to a stop. Major deal breaker for me for more reasons than one.
My goal for now is 550-650RWHP through my manual trans. I have Z06 manifolds and 1.85 Roller Rockers but other wise it's stock. I love the "big block" torque feel of a PD blower but again, my primary concern is stealth ability.
Any advice would be great and to the ECS guys......do any of you actually have a quiet setup when just cruising?

The noise you hear is the blow off valve (BOV). You can choose the quiet / recyckling type and all that noise is gone. If you do that you will not be able to tell the difference from a stock car soundwise...

I kinda feel like part of the point of a blown vette is the ridiculously awesome noises you can produce with different set ups, that an lots more 🐎🐎. The “noise” isn’t just a bypass or BOV either. Depends on what type blower it is. Centrifugal or root. YouTube some video of the two. Seems like if you want quite power no one can hear just spray heroic amounts of nitrous.....🤷🏻*♂️

Don’t buy a roots if you want quiet ......the whine even at part load is defiantly audioable ...the centri car is much quieter and if you use a recycle style bov then you will not hear much at all

Yeah I’m a bit confused too....my ProCharger=constant whistle....which is awesome. Again if you don’t want noise.....spray.

The OP asked about the Heartbeat. It's just short of silent even under mild boost. No burps, farts, grinds, or whistles to be heard. I've had several TVS blowers. They just don't make much noise of any sort.

Agree with old Motörhead. These new TVS blowers are crazy quiet. My heartbeat is nearly silent with stock pulley

My A&A has a whine. Assume it's from the blower and also some sound from the pulley's and belt. The sound is noticeable at idle, but not while driving with the wife.

The Heartbeat is a great option that fits under the stock hood. It doesn't make a ton of noise you can run them over 700HP. It would meet your goals without any issues on a stock LS3.
We would also recommend the Whipple but it does require a aftermarket hood. They offer one that looks killer but I understand most people aren't interested in swapping hoods. That being said they aren't over the top loud either and the 2.9L twin screw can make some killer power.

On the vortech/paxton/PCs you can get helical or straight cut gears. Helical are quiet, straight cut are whiney. So it all depends on what was selected.

I have had a Heartbeat since 2013. Any one sitting next to you or cruising, Will not know you have that under the hood. Other mods might change that. But the unit it self is not noticeable. 602rwh
