Default Most a 2200HD can handle?

Hey guys. I recently had my Novi 1500 let go after being overspun for a while. It was making 860whp on the current set-up with a 8" lower and 3.33" upper. I am picking up a Novi 2200HD like new for a good deal. I am curious what experience people have had with them and the most to expect out of it. I picked up a 3.15" pulley as well. Going to see what the IAT's look like on the 3.33" and then considering swapping to the 3.15" Thanks in advance!

The limitation is the 55000 max blower rpm. I'd say just over 900whp would be the limit. The 2200HD will only take a little more rpm then a 1500HD but will more more air at the same rpm. You would be better off with a 2200R/YSi and running an oil feed.

I believe the novi 1500 is 52-55k max but I was overspinning it pretty hard. The 2200hd oil fed version is 60k and I do plan on over-spinning it as well as long as IAT's are looking ok and it's still making power.
Here is what I calculated:

Novi 1500 (set-up that let go after 3 years) 55K limit
3.33" = 60,708 10% overspun (@7k rpm)

Novi 2200HD 60k limit
3.33" = 60,708 1% overspun (@7k rpm)
3.15" = 64,177 6.9% overspun (@7k rpm)

If you are going oil fed just go with the 2220R. The only reason I could see going with an HD is if you wanted to keep it self contained. Your 3.15 pulley will not overspin a 2200R and it it will make more power.

If it wasn’t more than twice the cost of the one I just picked up, it would be no question.

ok well I would not recommend over spinning the 2200HD. It will have the same fate as your 1500 if you do so.
