Default Dyno Comparison 427 YSI vs 402 2200R

Went to a dyno day with a buddy of mine and had some surprising results. We both knew our car are similar and made around the same HP but have never been able to do a same day comparison.

His Car: (dashed line)
427 LSX with stock Ls7 heads and intake manifold
YSI 8.2" lower 3.0" upper
max boost 16.3
max power 872 max torque 777 and has been 9.5 @ 147

My Car: (solid line)
Alum. 402 Stock LS3 heads and intake manifold
ECS Novi 2200R 8.2" Lower 2.7 upper
Max boost 20.5
I did a run on pump e85 and one on ignite 114 with no timing adjustments
E85 I made 929 hp and on ignite I made 998 hp 983 torque (shown on graph)

It caught me off guard how much more torque my car is making, we both have spec'd out cams from BTR and I tune both cars. Just thought I would share, anyone have any thoughts on why? 2nd gear is pointless on the street even on 17s, having the alignment checked this week and will be looking into shocks/coilovers.

Blower. You are spinning it way faster. On a blower setup, the blower determines 90% if what is happening. You are spinning it way faster, so you are getting more air in the low/mid as his tries to catch up top. Cubes/headsflow/intake/etc etc won't magically make the blower move more air.

Put a 2.7" upper on his car and it should be same or equal, maybe more torque down low.

I think it is worth a lot of it. I saw a huge difference between a 3.0 and 2.7

I’m more impressed with the ignite making 69rwhp more than pump e85 with no timing adjustments. I have a drum of it and gonna see what it can do. I don’t expect that much of a gain but if it does I’d be floored. I have heard it picks up like that.

Is the lower RPM peaks for the solid lined run normal - especially at those power levels? Seems quite a bit lower than the other car...

I'm also surprised the ignite 114 had so much gain over the e85...interesting

I’ll be doing some testing with it soon so we’ll see what results I get. I’ll post up when it’s done.

Both cars tested with same trans, same gearing ? Maybe could skew torque reading ?

Interesting on the fuel. This was on RH's Insta that I seen today....and same 2 fuels, Ignite 114 and E85, for his test the E85 fared better.

You dont mention what fuel the 427 was on ?

That’s some leaded 114 race fuel he used not the Ignite red 114 which is e90. That’s what the e85 made more than it.
