Default Intercooler for over 1000

Running the stock little intercooler that comes with the ECS kit and pretty sure its limiting the boost we are pushing. Still has the single BOV as well.

Need recommendations for an intercooler to push past 1000whp. 2010 GS.

We offer a race version that will fit into your mounts with provisions for another BOV, they are made to order though so there is a lead time. It is frame rail to rail.

This little entry level one did awesome for its size. The race one will handle 1100ish with another BOV?

Yes, we have been exceeding 1200 with one for a long time now.

People seem to underestimate the effect of a good quality core. I've seen larger FMICs lose 40+rwhp. I've seen swap to a smaller one pick up 60+rwhp. Not all cores are created equal. A lot of the cheap china stuff is big, but has very low fin density, and doesn't cool well. ECS uses a very nice core and I had no issues making over 1100rwhp on it.

The small $599 one that comes with the kits or the larger race one Doug is talking about?

The base one that comes with the kit.

My upgraded core alone was ~700, but didn't change power level. Helps keep IATs down for 1/2 mile pulls, for just for a dyno pull makes little to no difference.

Same results here. ECS big intercooler is a solid piece made in good ole USA. Hopefully both of us will be pushing it a little harder very soon.

I think I'll order it up. The little one did so good, I'm sure the bigger one will perform good as well.

Save your money to fight the little issues, and figure out the weak points, then upgrade. Don't fall into the trap I keep seeing people do of just throwing money at stuff that isn't a problem. Get the car running solid, make 1100+, check IATs on races, and then if it is an issue, upgrade. I'm sure there is plenty of better places to put money than a new FMIC at this point.

It's hitting just over 1000whp at 21.8psi and 14 deg timing on the mustang dyno. Seeing 23 on the street. Need room to open it up.

Just getting used to it now. It's a handful. Tough to get real IAT data in this cold air. Pretty deceiving. Have all the parts in the motor to flow good. Still a smaller supercharger set up and testing it out.

You are pushing the base intercooler past it's intended use, it would be interesting to do a boost check before and after the intercooler. See exactly how much of a gain you net.

Maybe 73dbgb will chime in but I’m pretty sure he picked up 60whp if I’m correct from Procharger’s race intercooler
