Default Single turbo Build thread

I've seen a lot of these up here so I think I will post mine as well. I finally sold my supercharger kit, pulling the ls7 and setting it up for a big turbo. I'm on a decent budget but definitely not a money is no object budget #teacherlife lol. Basically my car had a ls7 with a ttrim blower on it and made around 800whp on e85, When andy had the car he made close to 900 on a ysi. I really want to be over 1000whp for no other reason besides it being cool to say I have 1000whp. I have a lot of the expensive stuff already done so that helps. I have and RPM V T56, RPM V rear end, aftermarket driveshaft and couplers and an LT1-sc clutch. I have a 450 intake and dual external pumps with a return setup. E85 sensor, coilovers, sway bars and a half cage.Hopefully this helps keeping the costs down on the build. I really need sugestions on what turbo to run and an inter cooler and radiator setup.

Engine
I just picked up and Iron 408 short block with Molnar forged Crank, Molnar power adder rods, CP -12.7cc pistons and APR mains and APR 2000 rod bolts
I have a set of cleaned up 317 heads with stock valves (Thinking of sending them over to Texas speed for a port and stainless valves)
BTR springs (bought)
Johnson Link bar lifters (bought)
C5r timing chain (still deciding)
Melling high pressure + high volume oil pump
BTR stage 4 turbo cam (Taking suggestions)
APR head studs
LS9 head gaskets or the athena head gaskets
separate oil cooler mounted in the passenger fog light area
electric water pump
holley high ram (open to ideas)
ls2 silver blade throttle body

Drivetrain
Monster triple disk (installed)
Built t56 (installed)
Built rear diff (installed)
Heavy Duty driveshaft & couplers (have not installed)
custom bore tick master cylinder (installed)
OEM slave with billet sleeve (installed)
remote bleeder (installed)
pdaft coilovers (installed)
aftermarket sway bars + end links (installed)
Willwood brakes (installed) (may try to trade fir z06 front + 15" conversion)
Tranny cooler mounted where the mufflers used to be

Fuel System
ID1300 (installed on current setup)
Walbro 450 intake (installed
Custom fuel tank tap block thing (installed)
Holley dominator 1800 (installed)
Areomotive fuel regulator (installed)
return line (installed)
OEM e85 sensor (installed)

Turbo kit
Custom turbo manifold & crossover (made)
t6 turbo 88mm + (taking suggestions)
Tial 50mm bov
turbosmart wastegate (bought)

I know! A lot of them going on right now lol! I got the motor from a local performance shop. They got it on a trade in and refreshed it and they were going to put it into a customer car but they ended up needing a x58 and higher compression so I lucked into a pretty good deal. Thanks to Facebook. (I have an 05 vette so it uses x24).

You may run out of injector trying to make 1000whp on e85 with ID1300s

Another point to make, I can't remember what the limit is, but you can only flow so much through that flex fuel sensor before you start having issues. You may need to make a fork around the sensor. I'm not close to that limit so I haven't looked into it, but it's worth considering.

I was thinking about the injector situation and map sensors and stuff and I started to become concerned about using the e40 computer (mine is a 05). Do you guys think that computer will be able to support my goals? scaling the injectors isn't too bad but I am concerned with the MAP sensor and boost because you cannot use a 3 bar map with an e40 to my knowledge.

E40 is going to be limited to 22psi or so because of the MAP sensor limitations, so it just depends if you're planning on going beyond that or not.

Mine was already a wet sump ls7. That being said if it was dry sump I probably would have converted to a wet sump setup.

A few updates from this weekend. I got the deck cleaned and ready to go. Checked bearings and clearances, got the Molnar crank installed, set the thrust bearing and checked the end play. Torqued down the ARP main studs. Next, I will check the rod bearings and ring gaps and get that taken care of. Before anyone mentions it, yes the cost of tools is adding up but I have at least one more motor I want to rebuild so its not a terrible investment. Plus I enjoy it!

Very nice! Are you following some sort of manual for clearances and what not or have you built a motor before?
