Cooling recommendation needed for ls3 with A&A kit
Hello everyone,
I'm fairly new to this kind of stuff and am installing the A&A kit on my 2013 manual grand sport this week. I would like some suggestions from people with similar builds or anyone who knows what they're doing. I plan on relocating the stock oil cooler since i have the dry sump and retaining the stock oil and coolant radiators. Would this be a good decision with the T-trim kit, 3.8 pulley and no other mods besides Z06 full exhaust? The car will probably be making around 550rwhp.
I have also been looking at the Dewitts short radiator with EOC and fan. Also the radiator A&A sells with the internal oil cooler but using the stock c6 fan setup.
Do you guys know what the best option would be if the car is my daily driver? Should i just go with my first option and try to increase fan speed or add a dual fan setup to the stock radiator?

Go with a full size Dewitt's. Especially at the power level you'll be at there's no reason for a cut down radiator.
I went with a full size Dewitt's and ProSpeed fan setup and have zero complaints in the Az heat with my ECS setup.

What he said. I have the Pro Speed dual fan set up and it's much better than stock.

Would the full size need trimming to fit the blower? And are the SPAL fans that Dewitt's offers for the radiator not good?

Full size fits fine with the ECS setup and I'd imagine the A&A is no different. I've heard the Dual SPAL fans cool worse than the stock setup. Go with the ProSpeed if you're gonna do it. It's pricey but works very well.

I’ve just recently read on these forums that the 2005 C6 OEM fan has a full shroud, compared to the “half-shroud” that the later model do, and this reportedly helps with keeping these cars cool during low speed/strat and stop traffic driving.
If that is true, ordering a 2005 replacement fan from Rockauto would be a far cheaper option than any of the aftermarket fans, and may work just as good or better than some.

What they said above. Full size (fits with no trimming or issues) and either stock or prospeed fans.

I'm getting my A&A kit installed next week, although i don't have cooling issues yet what a good place to buy a dewitts radiator and fans and are the fans a direct fit including connector plug?

Hit up Joe @ Cordes Performance Racing. He can get one shipped to you and I'm pretty sure it's all a direct fit.

Depends on definition of direct fit. Yes it plugs into the OEM plug for PWM signal, but still has some wires for power to hook up and run.

Full Size Dewitts will fit just fine but you need to get to Prospeed fans for the shortened radiator... the shortened radiator fans are side by side and are set lower than the full size which are diagonally and they wouldn't clear my blower but maybe fine with yours.

'13 GS, Auto. Oversized my radiator, added A&A. Engine oil would run 225-235 on highway and track engine oil temps climbed to 275+, so I also added dual engine engine oil coolers (removed fog lamps). All temps very good since.
[Honestly, I don't know what temps were before the A&A blower]

All you with cooling issues what is your HP, timing set at. Is your tune conservative or more aggressive for HP? What temp do you have your fans come on? Did you change your T-stat?
Got me worried if i should do any of this stuff or wait and see how mine runs after the install. My tuner says i should be fine as i want a very conservative tune....IDK

Asking timing doesn't really help. It's a huge table. Too low and conservative typically runs hotter.

Thank you all very much for your input. Ill be getting the full size dewitts radiator and see how the stock fans do. If they dont do anything, i will then get the pro speed fans.

What are you trying to solve? If anything you are doing it backwards. I would do fans first, then a radiator.
