Most powerful SINGle fan to replace stock ?
I know alot of guys have switched to dual set ups. Who has had luck using a SINGLE replacement fan to ditch the factory single unit. Looking for 3000cfm at least to pull through the intercooler and condenser. Most likely SPAL low profile. Can make my own shroud if needed. Is there a plug and play unit for sale out of the box without the need to upgrade my alternator due to increased amps. I keep hearing how these draw liitle amps at start up due to the motor ramping up to full speed, but when I talked to a rep at SPAL they stated I may need to upgrade to a 140amp alt. So is the upgraded alternator needed or now. I know Dewitts has a dual setup but that apparently is only a direct drop in if you order their radiator also. Not looking for the shotgun approach by replacing everything, trying the fan first to see if that rectifies the temp issue. So any luck with a direct drop in SINGLE fan unit ?? Does not have to be a SPAL if anyone has had luck using another brand fan for their SC motor . My Z is parked until I resolve this problem

17" Spal Nuova.
Hell I'll sell you my setup if you want. Has custom shroud for cut down radiator. Cooled my 1200+rwhp in AZ heat with AC blowing just fine.
They got for about $700 new, would sell it for $500.

looking at the Flex A lite 180 - It appears to pull 3300 cfm , about double over the stock GM unit. Any thoughts....SPAL rep told me I would possibly have to upgrade my alternator due to increased amp draw ???

Also Derale has a dual setup pulling 4000cfm....That most likely would need an alt upgrade , pulls about 50 amps , but sounds like it is a beast at moving air. Trying the fan route first before replacing the radiator. After that it looks like maybe LG's super cool radiator is on the list. This blower really produces a blast furnace under the hood ! Pushing 230 temps in low 70 degree weather, not good at all.If the car can't be thrashed in the 70 degree weather, imaging when its 95 degrees here in FL !

Everything I've read is stay away from the cheap SPAL fans and Flex-a-lite fans, either do the 05 fans(under 200) or Pro-speed( around 900). Don't get hooked on the CFM #'s

When you say "cheap " SPAL fans, are you talking about knockoffs ? I thought SPAL in Italy was the only manufacturer of " SPAL " labeled fans ? I'm assuming they outsource manufacturing like alot of companies, but the fan specs have to remain consistent ???

I read more threads than I can count on cooling, not to mention how many fan setups for sale. Looks like some good info you posted there with that link, did not see that one.Either way I need to get this resolved as the car is basically not driveable ( at least not how I want to ) in this heat. I can baby the damn thing and drive it, but that is not why anyone picks up or builds an SC'd car. That ProSpeed setup looks top notch
A lot of threads on this subject. here is one.

Have your tuner turn the fan on high sooner. I believe factory setting is like 235 so have him bring it down to 200-205 or something. Maybe someone with more insight can give more info on this. I know mine was brought down by my tuner but i don't remember the exact numbers.

Any chance an older Diablo Predator tuner would work on a C6 Z for adjusting fan settings ? I got it when I bought my C5Z , wondering if it would work.Knocking down the turn on times would help.Either way I am hoping to get my Caspers Electronics manual fan controller installed this weekend, this way I can bypass the ECU and turn it on low, high, or stock settings whenever i want. Also want to check if the dreaded melted wire syndrome has hit my harness.Have zero idea what the tuner did that installed the SC kit.High speed wire could be smoked for all I know

Spal makes a HUGE range of fans. The 17" fan I run cost nearly $700. They have $90 17" fans, and $700 17" fans. So HUGE difference.
Also CFM readings mean about zero, as they are all unloaded. The good thing about the Nuova fans is low amp draw, PWM brushless control that maintains flow with a restriction in front of it. Who cares if a fan flows 3000cfm with nothing in front but 500cfm with the radiator/ac/intercooler there. You want a fan that flows good in that case, which is what the brushless stuff excels at.

I heard that.Taking into account static pressure also. Have seen a few reports of guys not all that pleased after replacing fan or fan/radiator combo, looking to avoid that issue if possible

Honestly, if you are running 230+ in 75 weather, you have other issues that need to be solved/found first.

I'm 755rwhp and it runs cool in 90+degree weather with extremely high humidity with AC running.

Unreal guided me in the right direction when I had cooling issues, went with the Prospeed set up. He wasn’t selling his fan at the time but I’d have probably jumped on that. 230deg temp is in traffic correct? I saw 225-230 in traffic with 90+ temps @ 630-650whp. After the Prospeed and a good bit of other mods I’m making mid 800’s wheel and haven’t seen over 205. I’d say if you want to permanently fix the problem buy Unreal’s ****, it’s proven on 1200whp and the damn desert or drop the cash on the Prospeed set up. Good luck man🇺🇸

I just installed a c7z fan and it's been working good so far. Before the install this week it was running around 195-205. After I installed it last weekend it's running in the low 180's steady. I have only got to drive it one day but it's looking good but the real test will be this summer.
