That was a RPM built 56. Now it has a RPM built 6060. Once you go big, you need to expect breakage. EVERYTHING breaks at some point. Don't get me started on my bent Dragonslayer crank..... No guarantees on race car stuff....

Haven't dynoed it. It has the 3" pulley on it that the 599 Hp kit comes with so if there is the typical 12 to 15% drivetrain loss, it should be right around 500 to the wheels.

It has the stock heat exchanger the kit came with.

Not sure what my IAT's are. Haven't data logged the car. I don't worry about any kind of heat soak or anything as the car is street driven.

The main cooling upgrade that I did to the car when I did the E-force install was to upgrade to a DeWitts radiator.

You said a mouth full there! I have quite a collection of melted, broke, bent and twisted parts over the years.

I also have an RPM t56 trans and RPM rear, looking at your picture might give me some sleepless nights!

You might want to check your pulley size. More than likely a 3.5". A 3" pulley with stock cam would have your boost well over 12psi. Horsepower well north of 600 at the wheels.

I was in that EXACT same position, and plans. Then after time, I wanted to bump it up a notch.

However for me if I had it to do all over again, I would have picked up a decent ZR1 and have started there. Better platform (LS9?) and better resale (like resale is ever a factor, LOL).

At 750 I think I'll be happy for quite a while.

This is a great thread! thank you for posting it and thank you for all the honest answers!! I had a C5 that was SC to 530 rwhp and just loved everything about it! I now have 2010 GS and the plan is to SC My goal would be 600 rwhp but my biggest goal would be for it to be reliable an knowing where to stop is key with not an endless budget. So I will be continuing to read everyones comments. Very much appreciated!!

This is kind of what I'm leaning to. After I do the 3.5" and see how my ait's are I'm hoping a 3.25 and injectors will get me there.

You on SBE LS7? I am near the same power (meth/heads/cam/8psi ECS 1500 kit/flexfuel) and It's always spining in the back of my head.

I will keep making the car faster as long as i can return it to stock. Or at least how i bought it. As a 700hp car that you can daily drive. Now the car is a high mount twin turbo car, and was not cut up to do it.

I like the power I make now but I don’t have a built motor yet. Once I do that with a set of heads then that will be my stopping point unless something needs repair.

I'm leaving mine basically stock. I used HP Tuners to tweak shift rpms and mph to my liking and removed most of the torque management, and tweaked a few other selected parameters. Added a Vitesse to get rid of the lame OEM throttle programming and set it to my liking.

I went down the slippery modification slope with a 2002 Avalanche and while it was fun and made for a surprisingly fast 6200 pound pig of a truck, as anyone who has done it knows, it was expensive! Once you start it's hard to stop!

If i had known now what I had known then:

- I would have started with a ZR1, the Z06 LS7 doesn't take well to many things and has it's own set of problems.
- about 700rwhp would have been fine, past that you start having traction problems run slicks/drag radials and break stuff.
- I wouldn't have gone 19/20" rims, I would have stayed at 18/19" rims for a better tire selection.
- clutches.. jfc.. I hate this that topic, just pay up front for a good one.. take the hit early, again staying at or below 700rwhp makes this an easier problem.

How would any of that change from a Z06 to a ZR1

LS7 heads/pistons and in general less reliable than the LS9, and to get near 700/750rwhp it'll cost you about the same as starting with a ZR1.

LS9 heads need to be fixed as well. They also have titanium rods that, I'm sure, are susceptible to the same issues the LS7 are.

Those won't work on a Heartbeat. Earlier Magnuson TVS blowers...yes.

I recently did it again. I stopped right before adding the blower. N/A this time around. Ported LS3 heads along with a mild cam and bolt ons. Ended up with 500 at the wheels with near perfect manners and decent fuel eco. Fun Vette with minor suspension upgrades too.

I wish instead of installing a cam I had just supercharged my ride.
