M2W Question / Need Some Help
HI
I installed my M2W several months ago on my 08 w/NPP. I leave it ON all the time love the sound. I've noticed since doing that the 2 inner exhaust pipes get black within a 10 mile ride after cleaning, and back fires after a real real hard launch. Water drips out of them also. The 2 outside pipes are clean.
The car has been checked by the dealer, air ratio, no codes, plugs are clean, etc, all seems good. There are no other performance issues with it. The dealer provided me with a recorder that was wired into the computer. When driving if there was an issue I pressed on the top of the recorder to record the event. After about 2 weeks they took it out read the data and nothing abnormal showed up.
Oh, I have run it on several trips with the M2W OFF and the pipes were black when I got home!
Dont think it is related to the M2W but all was good until I installed it, has any one experiened this problem with or with M2W.
Thx Len

Hi Len,
This is not a problem at all....
The two outer pipes are designed different than the inner pipes as far as the muffler piping goes, hence the reason when the tips open is gets so much louder (more than double the sound of the outers). The inner pipes do not have as much muffle applied to them and take more of a straight route out of the exhaust. So, with that said, exhaust gases, soot, and water will take the path of least resistance and come out the inner pipes. When the inner pipes are closed, all this stuff is still there, just getting caught up in the outer pipes until it pushes through or until you open the inner pipes.
The backfiring you mentioned has nothing to do with the M2W or the exhaust....
See ya,
Jim

Jim,
My new Grand Sport arrived today after about 2 1/2 weeks of waiting. It had 3 miles on the odometer. I pulled it into my garage and installed the M2W I bought from you before I put a single mile on it. It really makes the NPP exhaust option worth buying.

I have the M2W on my 2008 Z51 and I LOVE it. It's great to be able to choose when you want a quiet ride on the highway and when you want to blast onlookers with V8 roar.
Totally awesome.
