Has this thread died?

How do you go about removing the headlights to do a swap?

I thought someone said in the beginning that something is damaged when the lens is tampered with???

I have CG and an thinking about getting black or silver.

I swapped out my VY for Black, but I swapped with my own lenses.
I cut off the lenses with a dremel, removed and painted the bezels black, then re-installed and glued the lenses with Construction adhesive. ( the same kind that is recommended by the companies that change out lenses)
Total cost maybe $30.00
Turned out really good. You can see the adhesive in the pic

I just recently changed mine out on Machine Silver Z to black on the inside with new lenses. I did the lights myself. I baked them and took each apart and put new black inserts in, and also put on new lenses. Took a day of work in letting them set up and cure, with construction adhesive. But it was well worth the time and effort put in!

Below is a before, and some after shots.

I purchased the factory black inserts from RLSebring, I think is his name on here. I then purchased new GM OEM lenses from a vendor on EBay. I started on a Friday night taking the car apart then each headlight, once I got the headlights apart had to clean out old glue from grooves where lenses go back into place, then put new construction adhesive in the grooves and put new black inserts and lenses back on and used big clamps to keep them pressed together for 24 hours to cure. I just put micro fiber clothes on the lenses where the clamps had to go. They both sat for 24 hours and I had one end on both lights that did not stay completely clamped. This was a part of the light that would not be seen once put back on the car, so to keep moisture, dirt, ect. out I gooped up the outside where it was opened with the adhesive just before I put them back on the car. It really is not as hard as it sounds. I did not even have to take the bumper off the car. And thanks for the kind words, I sure like how it makes the car stand out in a crowd! To me it was well worth it!
