Our G2 coil over suspension line started in 1993 on the 4th generation Camaro's and continues to this day with our latest design for the 7th generation Corvette. The G2's have won countless times in both pro and regional classes in autoX, road racing, and drag racing alike.
What has been at the core of all of the G2 packages has been our long running relationship with Bilstein Motorsports in making parts and designs to meet our needs and our customer's demands in performance and quality.
For 2016 we have a shock update that is going to make this package even better with little to no impact on pricing (to be released in January).
Our current G2 shocks
New G2 shock for 2016
New shock end cap
This is going to be the new shock that is supplied with all kits that will phase in during 2016. You will still have LG Motorsports proven mounting kits and top quality HyperCo springs going with each G2 set, along with our custom valving per your order.
What is new is a fine threaded shock body that will give the end user more accurate adjustments when corner balancing the car. Also new is a threaded on end cap protective cover for the floating rod guide. This acts also as a bump stop caps for those cars that require bump stops when needed. This new cap will help keep debris and dirt from the guide as well for longer service life.
This new modular design is also slightly lighter than the prior generation shock too, which is an added bonus! Total car sets will be about 1/2 lb lighter than last generation.
WHAT CHANGES
WHAT STAYS THE SAME
Of course LG will always support older generation G2's as long as we possibly can. This new design does interchange shafts and pistons so rebuilds can still be done on older designs the same as the new shocks.
LG Motorsports, always improving the breed through racing!

No better Coilovers for under $4000! These units (G2 Coilovers) are some of the best on the market and what LG uses on their World Challenge Race cars. Shocks are made Bilstein and each shock is spec'd and custom made to your needs! The G2's work great for street and track.
If your looking for a great street setup... LG offers the GT2 Adjustable Coilovers for your C5 and C6.
0% financing for up to 1 year available on all LG Motorsports products purchased through TPS! Free shipping to any address in the continental USA

I'll try to answer... The leaf springs are stiff, they are resilient. They are light. The transverse leaf in my experience always had "cross talk". What I mean is I'd feel the rear end bobbing back and forth. Worst when going over bumps that went across the entire road like expansion joints on a curve. If you don't know what I mean, stop reading...
I tried pfadt adjustable shocks. The original ones with 16 adjustment spots, and tried them all. It was better. Not perfect, but very good.
I went to G2's I got 650/550 spring rates. The car is lowered a very slight bit on long body G2's. I would not want stiffer for road. I would maybe want stiffer for track. I also have JOC front and rear sways on stiffest settings at rear.
I would say the ride is very stiff for street, but I actually like it. I absolutely love the shock spring set up now. I have complete confidence in any road or track situation. It is a very consistent package. I feel zero of the rear end "cross talk" or pendulum effect of the leaf spring.
The marketing says the coilovers are able to be switched for different tracks and needs, but as LG says, you'd need to change the shocks too. Who's going to do that except Corvette Racing? I do not think track times are significantly effected by coilovers alone (personal experience). But they do allow for stickier tires to work better, and feel better..
The only down side I know of is the noise of coilovers. They clank at low speed only. Not embarrassingly so, but I hear it.. Some say this is not so. Everyone I've ever talked to I trust says they (coilovers) all make some noise. But after my ride today (and many track days), I don't care if they fart in my face. I completely love these coilovers. I've checked them for loose bolts many times and there are none.
These G2's make me more confident, and improve my driving satisfaction. I recommend them for those who can feel the pendulum of the leafs or for those who want stickier tires to work better on track.

I drove 200 miles today on my G2's ("old style") in my '08 Z06.

That pendulum effect you're describing is exactly what scares the hell out of me on the track. At Mid-Ohio the kink on the back straight is done at full throttle at around 125mph and the "set- rebound- reset" is NOT pleasant. So this upgrade will cure that? If so I'm in!
