CU, I really didn't say anything you implied, Spin Cam is driveable for sure, not what I wanted so I went to a smaller cam with a wider split and a blower, even it is more than I wanted overall as a daily driver so the car has been sold.

Would you like to purchase the Spin Cam?

I just thought by the "tamer" comment that it was not good for daily driving. I am considering this cam....but I may go fi as well in the future. Just trying to decide....what was your set up? HP?

CU, Just not tame enough for me, I guess I am a stock cam & turbo guy and decided to build a HCI car out of the vette vs just adding a TTI kit. Car made 465 with the Spin cam, I'm sure with some more miles on the clock it would have done better. I had an issue with my throttle pedal and not getting full throttle while I had this cam (no correlation), 2nd cam had the same issue but we noticed it then as the airflow was low across the MAF and found the problem (1/2" of sound deadener under the throttle stop) and fixed it (car picked up 12 rwhp with 100% throttle). Added the blower and that helped but still not the overall package I wanted so I sold the car... The cam would work with a blower or turbo, there may be better more efficient grinds but it will make more power than the stock cam at the same boost level.

My current project is a stock cammed 5.3LS 72mm turbocharged Mercury Zephyer, it's no vette but it should be fun, just cleaning out my office of left over parts.

Let me know if you want the cam or any other info.

John

Thanks for the info....looking for about 600hp total with good street manners. what heads did you run w/ it? Not sure if I should just boost it instead....i like a lil bit of lope though,so.......?

The cam has a nice lope but not over obnoxious, lots of sound files out on You Tube you can listen to. I had a Z06 exhaust on my car so it was still really quiet, the 2nd cam sounded pretty much stock. To get 600 crank HP, you'll most likely have to port the heads and bump compression. The real problem with the LS3's is intake airflow, my buddies Camaro made 630 engine HP on a dyno but it took a short runner intake converted to EFI to do it, that doesn't fit under a stock vette hood... My smaller cam with the A&A kit @ 6 psi made 521 rwhp on my tuners Mustang dyno, on my buddies Dyno Jet that would be 580-590 rwhp and man was it a handful in 2nd or 3rd even with the wider GS tires.

You sold the car John? What ended up happening with the blower? Did it not put down the power you were expecting? You had such a gorgeous grand sport

Yeah she's a looker, would love to park it in my living room as art, but it's sold and paid for just not picked up yet. Made good power with the blower especially at the low boost, second was sideways city and third pulled good, never even tried 4th. Was actually planning on going to the track but got a commitment to sell the day before so... No real reason for selling the car except I have too many projects and am thinking of building a new house. Back before the market went insane I picked up an older house in a knockdown neighborhood, watched the value go up $300k as developers got greedy and then fall to less than I paid as the developers went out of business. Housing in the neighborhood is on the move again and if I build and sell I could make some $$$ so it's nice to add to the fund. Been working on the Z and waiting for the race car parts to come back from the powdercoaters then we'll have it back out again. I've just going through my personal parts inventory and selling off stuff I won't need.
