Default Smart-phone dyno?

I downloaded an app for my HTC Incredible that allows me to "dyno" the car.

I tried it in my G20, rated at 145bhp from the factory, plus a K&N panel-filter.

After punching in the correct factors (weight, powertrain parasitic loss, etc.), I ran it twice. I got 150.45bhp, and 151.?? bhp.

Pretty impressive! I need to try it on a few other cars before I believe it to be accurate, but that's neat.

Anyone else have similar yay/nay experiences with these apps?

That one works. I used it on my car using my girl's Iphone, and the hp and 1/4 mile numbers were totally inline with my actual dyno and drag-track results. I was impressed. My experience showed me that it's a viable tool.

A side benefit was that it generated a results graph, speed over time distance, hp over time/distance, G-force over time/distance, etc. The interesting the for ME was using the graph to measure my shifting speed (ZF6 trans) which came in at 200 milliseconds.

I give it a "yay".

I haven't tried Dynomaster, but I have used an app called "Torque" for datalogging. It works with a bluetooth OBD-II reader but also logs g-force and gps info from the phone.
