Default Stock ecu limits

who has ran high horsepower on the stock ecu? Like 1k rwhp and up and how was it? I've got an 08 c6 z06 and I've read that I can put like a 2010 ecu in it for more capability or resolution. I'm wanting to do a flex fuel as well but mainly run e85.

Unreal is like 1100+ rwhp on stock ECM. No reason it can't be done. Realcanuk is similar, stock ECM

Flex fuel wise, no difference, doesn't matter which version E38 you're using

MAF airflow limit wise once you do the upgraded OS it raises that quite a bit if I recall correctly, and if you're in SD then it really doesn't matter. Worst case you do some scaling and get back under the limits.

Only limit I would look into is the MAP sensor limits.. I think that year is 256kpa limit on MAP sensor, so that's like 22-23psi of boost, something like that

2007 MAF airflow limit is 512 g/sec

In 2009 it went to 4000 g/sec

But if you aren't using the MAF then it doesn't matter.

1200+ here, zero issues
Feldman is 1450+ and stock ecu, no issues.

No 2010 ecu, nothing special. It works great.

Yes aftermarket ecus are nice for WOT Closed loop and traction control, but making 1200-1500rwhp on factory ecu is not an issue.

DSX is offering 2010+ ecus for what seems like a reasonable price to me if you want the extra features that the newer e38s offer.

Edit: Guess my link got removed but I'm sure if you PMed him he could get you setup.

I recently made over 1500whp on a factory 2010 ECM with room to keep going.

Sweet thanks for the input guys! I've read though at high horsepower levels you can't have closed loop? What would be the better way to go with more functionality and driveability?

You can have closed loop just fine. Just not while in PE mode. Aftermarket ecm' oftentimes have widebands which enables closed loop even when in PE

Driving around normally though it'll be in closed loop, same as a stock car.

Based on your questions, you need to start a thread and really do some research or find a shop. Asking about ECU limits and dry sump, for a road racing a 1000+rwhp twin turbo car sounds like a recipe for another famous corvette forum disaster.

well that wasn't any help at All.. but thank you. Not gonna road race at 1000rwhp it's gonna be 1/2 mile and road course car. Gonna detune it for the road racing. But was looking for some knowledgeable input on ecu limits and dry dumps since most the forums on those topics are a few years old.
would you guys run the 08 ecu or switch to a 2010+ ecu?

I do indeed.

They're 2010+ hardware that's flashed with a specially modified operating system, and then the VIN is forced to match your vehicle. The 08+ are super easy to do. 06-07 is what is a lot trickier to accomplish without wiring changes, but I've managed to make it work.

The major advantages are the increased airflow and injector flow rate limits, but there are other additions like the O2 integrator delay, adjustable axis labels, and a few others. These things also help cure the annoying 08 Z06 shutdown issue.
