Default Engineer overheating, but not

My car turned on the dash morning saying that the car was overheating and the air conditioning was turned off. I looked at the gauge and it said dead cold.
I restarted the car to see the gauge start up drop back to the normal temperature and then drop to dead cold.
I completed this process 10 times with no change. I bought a new center and plugged it in (not installed) to see that it look normal if it went to dead cold again. The engine was not hot. Has anybody seen this? Any ideas?About the only thing that is different is that I bottomed out on a speedbump lightly just before. It didn’t pop a code in till I floored it on the way home.Is this something that you should anybod
