Default Gold Race Rocker Arms

Has anyone installed CraneCams new Gold Race Rocker Arms? Saw a good write up GM Performance about them, but I am wondering if there is room enough for the 1.8 ratio? I have no plans to replace the C6 cam which it self is supposed to be the 2004 Z06 cam & springs?

Its the one from the earlier 385 motor. The one in the last couple of years with 405 is different. One of the tuners posted that they had installed higher ratio rockers so I know it can be done but I dont recall the detail, if you needed to change springs and that sort of thing.

I got 1.85 ratios installed on my c6 and they fit perfect but we had to grind a couple of areas on the valve covers. worked out great though

Did you dyno it before and after? If not would you say you gained any SOP? Were you able to use the stock springs? Im thinking about this one whenever my wife gets over the headers which I cant get till she gets over the intake I just bought.

What rocker arms did you install?? Did you also install guide plates and new push rods? And what did it cost?
Sorry for all the questions but it is something I really interested in.

You used the SLP's-they are the only 1:85 that I know of? I have them on the 97 Gran Prix and they added 18HP and 19tlbs and no coil bind so the stock springs stayed. Replaced those with rollers for a few more ponies, but nothing worth the work involved.

These Gold Race's at 1.8 will need new springs since they are a true 1.8 ratio, but I found a Hod Rod build up on the Web that used a Katect heads & Katect 4027 CTS-V cam and SLP 1:85 and got fantastic results for the LS2. The heads were reworked with 2.100 intakes and 1.55 exhaust, the cam had stock lift and duration, but narrowed the LSA for more overlap which retained the low and mid range power which is what I am looking at since I don't race anymore

Default SLP C6 1.8 roller rocker kit

I just called SLP and they said they just got a rocker arm kit in for the c6. But you have to change the springs to heavy duty springs. They are 1.8 roller rockers and the kit comes with the springs, titanium retainers, pushrod retainers and of coarse the rocker arms. The price is ...ready...$899.95 for a estimated 15hp at the flywheel. You would also need to change the pushrods to hardened one's since the factory ones will begin to rub and square off against the pushrod retainers. The price of the pushrods from SLP is $129.95.

I was thinking this might be good for 15 to 20 rear wheel. And that it would be less expensive. Clearly my pros and cons where not realistic with this mod. Im rethinking this...

The problem with the SLP's 1.8.1, roller or otherwise, is they may not actually reach 1.8.1, whereas the Quick-Lift Crane's start out at 1.88.1 and drop to 1.8.1(their 1.7.1 go 1.78 start to 1.70 end) using what they term as a "variable ratio”-in any case their kit without springs is like $650 and includes the rods & studs etc. Whether springs are needed is a question, but I suspect the stock springs could handle even the 1.8's-valve slap is another question. As to whether it is worth it, yea it is since the Price verus HP "gained" seems to be equal to any other mod I have seen other than Forced Induction

Will the carne cam rocker arms work for the ls2? I see that they sell for the ls1/ls6 engines.

I called crane tech support and the rocker arms do work for the ls2.
Kit number 144759a-16 sell for $600.00 and includes rocker arms only and kit number 14475-16 sells for $836.00 and he said that he would sell it to me for $752.00. The kit includes pushrods and Arp studs. He also said that I would not have to change the valve springs, and that if I wasn't spinning the engine over 6000 rpm I would not need to change the pushrods or rocker arm studs. He also said that they are seeing numbers in excess of 15 rear wheel hp.

Johnnybegood-was that for the 1.8's or 1.7's?
