Guys,
I'm going to the Drag Strip (VetteMagic)...
C6 6spd...
How do I launch?
What rpms?
Dump the clutch? Let it out fast? slow?
What air pressure in the tires?
It'll be in the high 80s - low 90s for temp.
I've made at least 500 passes down the strip (in my youth, different cars), looking for input for my C6. You just don't get enough practice (dial-in) runs.
Thanks...
as far i would go, launch it at like 1800-2200RPM....lightly feather the clutch so you dont spin and as you can feel good traction just get on the accelerator
I hold the button down till everything is off. Two quick hits put you in CDM--one longer hit turns off all/most of the sissy mary crap.I say most because who knows.
I've seen five C5s hit the wall at the drag strip, all running with AH-off. Stupid risk with zero reward.
Unless you are a macho type interested in demonstrating there is no risk you won't take, then I highly recommend all passes be made in Competitive Driving mode. This will limit the worst that can happen if your rear end gets loose.

Actually, some poeple - myself included, have had wierd things happen in the competition mode - much like what is being described as "Torque Management". With everything turned off, I get zero bog on shifts or launch. I really think this is why some people think the six speed cars are bogging - and blaming it on torque management. Try with competiton mode on, then everything off.
Truth be told, if you get so sideways you hit a wall in a stock Corvette, your brain needs to be questioned. If the car gets squirly, back off and save it for another run.

Good advice. But three of the five cars I've personnally seen hit the wall were driven by experienced racers. When the car gets loose with AH turned off, not everyone will recover in time to stay off the wall.
A collision with the wall at the drag strip is generally not covered by insurance. So each driver must decide if the risk of NOT running in Competitive Driving mode is worth it.
When I hit tranny fluid on the track amid the 1-2 shift, my rear went violently right. I missed the wall by about a foot. That was in Competitive Driving mode. Without it, I would have hit the wall for sure. At the time of that event, I had about 200 passes in C5s and was far from being a novice racer.

I can't argue with your advice- on my C5's I always ran in Competition mode for the reasons you give.
With an a/t launch w/tracktion on and turn it off after a second? Can t/c be turned off under WOT?
You have to hold it down for five seconds. Not enough time for that hauling *** down the track and shifting gears. BTW, by that, I mean to turn everything off. You always want to drag race with traction control off. We are referring to active handling.

My C6 doesn't have the 5-second thing anymore like my C5 did. Just tap it to go between modes.

jschindler is correct. On the C6, one tap of the button turns off traction control. Two quick taps puts you in comp mode. To turn both TC and AH off requires pressing and holding the buttom for 5 seconds. To bring them back online, you have to shut down the car and restart. You can't just cycle back to all on. This is in the manual, and is the way it works.

Well, we're getting there. Yes you can turn everything back on when driving. Just push the button monenetarily in any of the "off" modes. The DIC will even tell you everything is back on.

I stand corrected. Learn something knew everyday here. Can't wait to try it with everything off to see if it keeps the car from falling on its face.

You sure? I can turn mine all off & if I hit the button again DIC says traction control & active handling ON.
