Will a 06 computer plug in and work on a 05? That would be a quick and easy way to tell if the 06 has superior tuning. You could actually change them at the track.

Not sure if you are talking about the PCM or not. If so, no. The VIN is transmitted over the Serial Data line and would not match from the old car to the new car. This would result in a no start.

Yes, but as soon as you plug it in the battery goes dead, roof delaminates, fuel sender card malfunctions, bolts under the hood loosen themselves, and the rear end implodes. No wait...That's what happens when you put an 05 computer into an 06...Nevermind!

I already offered to drive any 05 or 06 on the track for comparison's sake. !! Ill even throw in dinner if I cant get at least a 12.6xx out of any manual car! !!
Why not let a good tuner massage your '05? Seems like that would probably be better than the stock '06, and probably cheaper than buying a new computer
(If this is just a "what if" post, disregard the above.. )

Anyone with a Tech II can properly introduce a PCM to the BCM. You do have to do a crank variation learn, but that's fairly simple if not quick. It is changing out a BCM that can lead to difficulties because the security protocols live there. A used BCM has to be sent back to the factory to be reinitialized before it can be swapped into another car.
Not really, it just proves both of their driving styles work well with the stock tune if both run well. If Daren falls off Jims times then that would be an indication of TM. But what if neither can match the others times? Too many varibles.

Very good point, but we will have to wait until they actually run before we can begin to analyze the results and then pound them (the results) to death
