Default C6 Rear Diff install question

How hard of a job is it to install a rear Differential? Is that something best left to the pro's?

DEFINATELY need a LIFT to do this.

Rear suspension carrier has to come down. This is the entire assembly. Then the diff/tranny comes right out.

I would probably try this myself (having access to a shop with a lift), BUT, the laziness/liability factor comes in and I'd rather pay someone else to be RESPONSIBLE for the results.

Long as you have it that far apart, if you're considering a clutch replacement/upgrade - NOW would be a good time to do that too, as it's not much more to pull the torque tube and do that also. While that's all apart, do the clutch slave (never hurts), put some more heat sheilding up in the tunnel and do the tunnel plate too.

Why are you replacing? Upgrade? (do the output shafts too) or did we fry our rear end already?

I've done it a few times by myself, and it's really not a bad job if you have access to the right tools. Lots of people have done it without a lift, but I wouldn't. There are a few tutorials with pictures in the C5 section, the C6 is basically the same. You drop the rear cradle, then unbolt the diff from the trans and remove it. No need to remove the trans, you just have to lower it a little. If the picture below seem like too much to deal with, call a pro.

No not yet but I have a SC,headers, complete custom ext, spec 2+ clutch, I have this fear that the rear diff will bust wide open once I start getting into it. I have already thought of the ABS of Alum and like that mod as well. I would rather be prepared have new upgraded one ready and if winter hits and I have a excellent project. I was looking at the rear diff from DTE and also the cradle you can get as well. I am also looking to ad some mongoose heads and fast intake that will compliment the stage 2 procharger set up I have. My next door neighbor has a lift in his garage which is nice.
