There is definite drone from 1600-1900 rpm under moderate load. Only time it comes into play is cruising on the freeway @ 70 mph in 6th and going uphill...then it's quite noticeable. I guess you could downshift to get around it, but that hurts your fuel economy and is unneccessary given the broad torque curve. I personally find it a bit irritating, but accept the trade-off for the good sounds most of the rest of the time.
