Whats the Best/cheapest way to gain 100hp
Just read about the GT500 having 500 bhp..... in a Mustang....I know you have to be crazy to pay 45K base for it but their out there. I have 400bhp in my $60K vert. 100 more hp in a stang... that will not work for me!!!! What is the best and cheapest way to increase my HP to above 500? I know the easy answer is supercharge at the cost of about 8K after all is said and done. With the need to upgrade clutch later. But can I do it naturally aspirated for less? I've looked at Lingenfelter's site and the have a 500hp package for just under 9K. but has anyone done this setup on their own with numbers?
Hope this gets some good recipes posted with dyno's to back them up!

I'd never put a supercharger on my vette. Turbo or nitrous yes.
Go H/C.

Callaway extra HP
Check the Callaway site. Right here on the forum. Give Reeves a call. He'd be happy to help and explain exactly what you need.Good Luck.George

In any case an 100 additional ponies will roast your stock tires. There is no use making large amounts of horsepower if you can not get it to the ground. You need to consider the entire driveline not just the engine.
Some of the choices are:
Nitrous
Heads & cam
Turbo
Supercharger
Engine package by one of the major vendors (Callaway, LPE & etc)
Then again you could always go for a Z06. Check out some of the members cars, ask them about what they did and how they like their ride. Go to the local track and check out the modified Corvettes. Dyno sheets are nice but you really have to see, feel & touch Nothing like the smell of burning rubber, good luck

Remember that they will always be a faster car than yours out there. So you add another 100hp but then so does some Mustang guy adds 100 to his. In fact I would there will be more modded GT500 out there than not. The only guys I lose most of the time to are modded stangs and a few ricers. I ask what they have, say nice and walk away. I never expect to beat a modded car. When I do I smile.

Do keep in mind that the GT500 weighs roughly 3900 pounds (the convertible weighs even more), even with 500hp that's a LOT of weight to pull around.
The best 1/4 mile time for a bone stock GT500 that I've heard so far is a 12.2@117 which is as quick as the quickest of bone stock LS2s but that was also an isolated case (most are in the 12.5 - 12.7 range) by a superior driver (Evan Smith).
In the handling, braking. top speed and fuel economy departments it's all C6.

Safe=heads +cam
less safe=n20
It's your car, your call, but cheap most of the time equals more money spent down the road on broken parts. BTW, those #'s for the GT500 are at a well prepped track. If/when you meet one on the street, the driver will be lucky to keep it straight when he punches it. The C6's hook and book incredible on the street, so even stock, don't worry. BTW2:If you get above 149mph, he won't be able to follow unless it's been tuned. They dead stop around 150mph.
