Default '08 C6 A6 trans program for '06/07 A6's

Does anyone know if the '08 A6 trans programming/hard parts- better/faster shifting - could be downloaded/installed to those of us with 06/07 A6 cars? My '07 C6 A6 is due to arrive any day (couldn't wait for '08s, have fun now!) will mod it of course, the usual bolt-ons, 3:15 gears etc.
Thanks

There are mechanical internal changes to the 08 A6 so the software isnt nec. compatible.

I think I smell a burned transmission, might have to rebuild to '08 A6 specs.....just then he awoke.... "wow what a dream I just had!"

OK, I know but I can dream.

I wonder how extensive the 2008 hardware upgrade can be. A simple retrofit to 2007s? Or more likely a completely different valve body? I would be willing to pay a dealership to upgrade my 2007 A6 hardware/software if possible to reduce the paddle delay. Though this would probably be considered a mod that voids the warranty coverage on the trans notwithstanding factory techs and parts. Unless there is a huge grass roots uproar from the 06 and 07 owners demanding that a retrofit should be considered a fix to older A6s.

We will know in several months how the new A6s have improved, and whether fixes to older A6's are worthwhile.

From the info in the presentation and specs, it seems like the updates are hardware and software.

I've heard alot of these types of questions about the tranny, steering, suspension, etc since Friday. I wonder how many of them are from 2007 owners who KNEW the 08 would be better, but just couldn't wait . . .

Why is a quick shifting paddle important? You don't race with the paddles if you have your tranny programmed correctly. I have tuned mine so D & S are identical and shift at the rpm I feel gives best ET. If you shift with the paddles you will never get best ET.

somewhat.

With the exception of Ferrari's F1 transmission and Audi's DSG, paddle shifters are just a gimmicky way of shifting a normal torque-converter slushbox.

Nice questions, being they have not produced a production model and no one has taken delivery. How can a proper or accurate answer be had ??

In the qtr you are correct. But for the road track or the mountian twisties if would be nice to have firmer and quicker shifts. I'm better that it is nothing more than a valve body upgrade and maybe a solmoind or 2 to upgrade as well as a software upgrade. We can only cross our fingers.

Yep, in mountains I can see the benefit. Just don't have too many mountains here in the Houston area. I can see where quick shifting and the paddle would be good for road racing too. My racing is all 1/4 mile.
