CAn i replace my "basic" ISRVM with the auto dimming/compass upgrade and have the wiring harness plug in easily? Any tech help is appreciated.

I did, just a 1/4 turn of the old mirror to remove, plug in the new mirror and repeat the process. I went from the no option mirror to compass and auto dim. Find a C6 with the mirror you want and give the dealer that VIN and he can find the mirror for you.

Do you have a P/N and price for the mirror you bought? I would like to upgrade my 1LT too.

Hi All,

I have sold quite a few of these. It just matters whether you have OnStar or not. They do go for the mid 200's. If you're interested send me an email directly.

Thanks, Gene.

After a few months, you will not like the auto dimming feature, so be sure to keep your old one around.

Really? Why is that? Just asking cause I was thinking of doing the same upgrade.

The auto dimming mirror doesn't get as dark as the manual version.

That's about it....which is the purpose of it to dim in the first place. You'll eventually just pivot the mirror out of the way at night, to avoid rearward lights, until you replace it altogether.

My auto-dim (2007 3LT, no On-Star) gets much darker than my manual dim ... and also has a lot of intermediate steps where is dims a little (nice when the lights behind you are just a little bright). I really thought I would dislike the autodim feature (I have hated it in every rental I have ever had), but I think it works great in the C6 (I also like that it auto-dims the side mirrors).

Of course, your mileage may vary since this is a personal opinion.

My auto dim works great. No issues at all.

I was leary of having an auto dim but now that I have it, I'd do it again.

The only thing that annoys me about the auto dim, is it does not dim fast enough. I get blinded before it has time to react sometimes.

I would rather it just accept its dark out and stay dimmed.
Not go by the sensor detecting headlights from behind so much.
