I did, just a 1/4 turn of the old mirror to remove, plug in the new mirror and repeat the process. I went from the no option mirror to compass and auto dim. Find a C6 with the mirror you want and give the dealer that VIN and he can find the mirror for you.
I have sold quite a few of these. It just matters whether you have OnStar or not. They do go for the mid 200's. If you're interested send me an email directly.
The auto dimming mirror doesn't get as dark as the manual version.

That's about it....which is the purpose of it to dim in the first place. You'll eventually just pivot the mirror out of the way at night, to avoid rearward lights, until you replace it altogether.

My auto-dim (2007 3LT, no On-Star) gets much darker than my manual dim ... and also has a lot of intermediate steps where is dims a little (nice when the lights behind you are just a little bright). I really thought I would dislike the autodim feature (I have hated it in every rental I have ever had), but I think it works great in the C6 (I also like that it auto-dims the side mirrors).
Of course, your mileage may vary since this is a personal opinion.
