Cam only swap, need expert advice!!
He guy's, I am getting ready to let MTI do a cam only swap and 3:90 gear change on my '05 mn6 coupe. They just did a stage I a few weeks ago, and my dyno numbers were 389 rwhp.
What is the best cam to go with? I am hoping to achieve 420-430 rwhp. I would like to have a noticable lope, but nothing too radical. I still want decent fuel mileage 25-30 mpg. I get over 30 now interstate.
What do you guy's recommend? MTI has a cam in stock and they are ready to do it. They will give the specs in a day or two........thanks for your help..................

I agree with Cameron on the MTI cam and specs. You are going in a great direction, you will love the combo. It will give you enough lope to sound and feel mean, but still have great off idle manners and driveability. Gas mileage wont really suffer much (except for the fact you will driving it harder because it is so much more fun ). I have 410s and a tune and only lost about .5 - 1 mpg overall. At 75mph, Im still only taching about 1850. Around town, being in the power band makes the engine more efficient so I actually picked up mileage a hair during local driving.
The only thing I strongly recommend is to at least add the CompCam 918 springs with hardened 7.400 pushrods, or a good set of dual springs as LOS ANGELES PI recommends.
I want the first ride Sunday, Cameron.....you promised....

Well, my car is in the local shop for a cam swap. A friend of mine and a forum member here went to the same shop installed the 228/232 575/588 and 113 lsa. His car idles real nice at 875rpm. Noticable lope, but nothing too radical. This is the same cam I am going with plus AFR dual springs and retainers, comp pushrods and underdrive pulley. The car should be ready by saturday. Will post dyno results before and after.

I highly recommend the MTI X1 cam. 230 228.
You will make the same amount of power, but it will be more useable on the street. It is a reverse split cam and will make more power lower in the RPM band. I ran 11.3 with it (cam only) in my C5. It will alos lope a bit harder

Its for peace of mind. You really should have dual springs.
You don't have to buy the $500 dual springs, go for the TSP or Patriot dual springs for $250. They are just as good, I've had them on every car I own and never had one fail. As far as the push rods...Waste of money. I have never seen one bend on a C5 or C6, plus a bend push rod is cheaper then a bent valve...
